Exemption Order under the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940.

Pursuant to the Transport Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, so far as they relate to drivers of heavy trade-motors, shall not apply to Arthur Gordon Tippett, of Okaiawa.

The Wanganui Coal Delivery Notice 1942.

Pursuant to Regulation 4 of the Delivery Emergency Regulations 1942,* the Minister of Transport doth hereby give notice as follows :-

  1. This notice may be cited as the Wanganui Coal Delivery Notice 1942.
  2. This notice shall come into force on the Monday following the date of publication thereof in the Gazette.
  3. The scheme set out in the Schedule hereto is hereby provided for the said district.

SCHEDULE.

THE WANGANUI COAL DELIVERY SCHEME, 1942.

(1) For the purposes of this scheme, unless the context otherwise requires,—
“The district” means the area of the City of Wanganui :
“Minister” means the Minister of Transport :
“Week” means any continuous period of seven days commencing on a Sunday.

(2) For the purpose of assisting in the administration of this scheme there shall be a committee which shall consist of the following members :—
(a) Two members to be appointed by the Wanganui City Council :
(b) One member to be appointed by the Wanganui and District Retail Coal Dealers’ Association :
(c) Mr. H. M. Christie, Zoning Officer for the North Island, Wellington.

(3) (a) The members to be appointed by the Wanganui City Council and the Wanganui and District Retail Coal Dealers’ Association under clause (2) of this scheme shall be appointed by resolutions of the Council and Association respectively, as soon as may be after the coming into force of this scheme.
(b) Any committee member appointed by the said Council or Association, as the case may be, may in like manner be removed from office.

(4) Any committee member, other than the Zoning Officer, may resign his office by writing addressed to the Minister.

(5) On the death, resignation, or removal from office of any committee member, other than the Zoning Officer, the vacancy created thereby shall be filled by appointment in the manner in which the vacating member was appointed.

(6) The functions of each committee shall be to receive and investigate complaints affecting the administration of this scheme, to advise the Minister on any matters that may be referred to the committee by the Minister or that may be considered by it of its own motion, and to make recommendations to the Minister for amending this scheme.

(7) Subject to the foregoing provisions of this scheme, each committee may regulate its procedure in such manner as it thinks fit.

(8) The names and addresses of the vendors who are parties to this scheme and the areas in which they may deliver coal are as follows :—

Messrs. Williams and Sons, Ltd., Duncan Street, Wanganui No. 1 District. All that part of Wanganui East, Duncan Street, Boydfield Street, Moana Street, and north-east of these streets, and from Anzac Parade on the west and No. 2 Line on the east.
C. J. Langridge, Aotea Street, Castlecliff No. 2 District. Castlecliff area as far as Raupo Street and Mosstown Road to the city boundary.
John Dunlop, Somme Parade, Aramoho No. 3 District. Aramoho, north of Barrack Street, from Somme Parade to Seddon Street, and Balance Street.
J. Byers, 14 Alma Road, Gonville
E. D. Chisholm, Tawa Street, Gonville
No. 4 District. Gonville and north of Raupo Street, along Heads Road, from Taupo Quay to Guyton Street, along Sargeant Street to Heads Road, along Liffiton Street, then along Jackson Street, Godwin Crescent, from Godwin Crescent along Purnell Street to Totara Street.
The Westport Coal Co.,Ltd., 3 Trafalgar Place, Wanganui
A. Smith and Son, Taupo Quay, Wanganui
B. Bullock and Co., Ltd., Churton Street, Wanganui
G. Burns, Harrison Street, Wanganui
Butler Bros., Sydney Place, Wanganui
No. 5 District. City area, from Guyton Street along Hatrick Street and north thereof from Jackson Street, Fitzherbert Avenue, St. John’s Hill, London Street to South Barrack Street, along Somme Parade over Dublin Street, along Anzac Parade south of Boydfield Street, Moana Street, Duncan Street, Durie Hill, along Taupo Quay, Carlton Avenue.
Also—
(a) Westport Coal Co. and B. Bullock and Co. may serve St. John’s Hill two days per week each. A. Smith and Son may serve St. John’s Hill one day per week, and G. Burns may serve St. John’s School.
(b) The Westport Coal Co., Ltd., A. Smith and Sons, and B. Bullock and Co., Ltd., may serve Durie Hill one day per week each.
