HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to confirm the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and relinquishments of temporary rank of officers on active service with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas, vide List No. 40 :—
APPOINTMENTS.
Commands and Staff.
Lieutenant-Colonel F. L. Hunt, Southern Infantry Training Depot, relinquishes command of the Depot, is appointed Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, Headquarters, Maadi Camp, and is seconded. Dated 15th September, 1941.
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) D. T. Maxwell, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Adjutant and Quartermaster-General, Headquarters, Maadi Camp, is attached to Headquarters, 2nd N.Z. Division, and remains seconded retaining the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 15th September, 1941.
Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) J. T. Burrows, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, relinquishes command of the Central Infantry Training Depot, ceases to be seconded, retaining the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and is appointed to command the Southern Infantry Training Depot. Dated 15th September, 1941.
Major C. M. Williamson, 19th (Wellington) Battalion, is appointed Deputy Assistant Quartermaster-General, Headquarters, Maadi Camp, and is seconded. Dated 13th September, 1941.
Major R. D. B. Paterson, 20th (Canterbury-Otago) Battalion, is appointed second in command of the Battalion. Dated 16th September, 1941.
Major H. F. Smith, 25th (Wellington) Battalion, is appointed to command the Central Infantry Training Depot temporarily. Dated 15th September, 1941.
PROMOTIONS.
N.Z. Engineers.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) J. H. Shelker to be Captain to complete establishment of Base Post-office, and remains seconded. Dated 1st September, 1941.
N.Z. Forestry Group.
Captain H. E. Crosse, M.C., to be Major, and remains seconded. Dated 1st August, 1941.
GRANTS OF TEMPORARY RANK.
N.Z. Artillery.
Captain R. D. Sellers is granted the temporary rank of Major while commanding a Battery. Dated 11th August, 1941.
Lieutenant F. J. Needham is granted the temporary rank of Captain while commanding a Troop. Dated 10th September, 1941.
Infantry.
24th (Auckland) Battalion.
Lieutenant E. H. Halstead is granted the temporary rank of Captain while acting as Official Archivist, 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and remains seconded. Dated 1st September, 1941.
TEMPORARY RANK RELINQUISHED.
Captain (temp. Major) R. D. Sellers, N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the temporary rank of Major. Dated 10th September, 1941.
TRANSFERS.
Major H. E. Crosse, M.C., N.Z. Forestry Group, is transferred to the 19th (Wellington) Battalion, with same relative seniority as at present and remains seconded. Dated 1st August, 1941.
Lieutenant K. G. Scott, Central Infantry Training Depot, is transferred to the N.Z. Ordnance Corps with same relative seniority as at present. Dated 12th September, 1941.
