Breaches of the Customs Acts.

Customs Department,
Wellington, 6th October, 1941.

IN accordance with the provisions of section 244 of the Customs Act, 1913, it is hereby notified for public information that the Westland Breweries, Limited, George Murtha, and Charles Murtha having on the 14th day of May, 1941, admitted in writing that they had from time to time prior to that date committed offences against the Customs Acts, the Minister of Customs has accepted from the said company and persons in full satisfaction of the penalties thereby incurred the following sums :—

Excluding Land from the Okere Development Scheme.

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto, a certain notice dated the 29th day of May, 1933, and published in Gazette No. 46 of the 22nd day of June, 1933, at page 1657, whereby the provisions of subsection (3) of section 522 of the Native Land Act, 1931 (now Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936) were applied to, inter alia, the said land, and such land is hereby excluded from the Okere Development Scheme.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the Waiariki Native Land Court District, containing five (5) acres, more or less, called or known as Otamanui (Tabeke No. 9), and situate in Block X, Rotoiti Survey District.

Including Additional Land in the Urenui Development Scheme.

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby declares the land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included in the Urenui Development Scheme.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the Aotea Native Land Court District, containing 2 acres 0 roods 6 perches, more or less, situate in Block VI, Mimi Survey District, and called or known as Pukearuhe 6A Block.

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Native Affairs hereby declares the land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included in the Manawatu Development Scheme.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the Ikaroa Native Land Court District, containing 34 acres, more or less, situate in Blocks V and VI, Waitohu Survey District, and called or known as Waiorongomai 9A Block.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Settlement Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 14th October, 1941.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925; and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 10th November, 1941.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 12th November, 1941, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Applicants are required to produce documentary evidence of their financial position and farming experience.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit in reduction of weighting for improvements.


SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.

Otamatea County.—Matakohe Survey District.—Parahi Settlement.

SECTIONS 3, 15, 16, and 17, Block V, Matakohe Survey District, and Allotments 187 and 188, Omaru Parish : Area, 318 acres 3 roods 27·9 perches. Capital value, £520 ; Half-yearly rent, £13.

Weighted with £1,490 for improvements, comprising dwelling, wool-shed, cow-shed, washhouse, and store-shed, 110 chains road fence, 250 chains internal fencing, 54 chains boundary fencing, 200 acres felled and grassed, and 86 acres in fern and rough feed.

This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £240, the balance is payable as follows :—

(1) A loading of £500 repayable over a period of twenty years by half-yearly instalments of principal and interest amounting to £19 12s. 6d., with a final one of £19 17s. 1d.

(2) A first mortgage for £600 to the State Advances Corporation for a term of thirty years : Half-yearly instalments of principal and interest combined amount to £18 11s. 10d. ; interest 4½ per cent. reducible to 4¼ per cent. for prompt payment. The mortgage to contain the following special covenants :—

(a) The application of 6 tons per annum of suitable fertilizers together with necessary lime.

(b) No dead or green timber to be sold or removed from the property without the prior consent of the Corporation.

(c) Roof of dwelling and wool-shed to be painted within six months from the date of possession.

(d) It is a further condition that the successful selector execute a first-graded Dairy Order to cover the instalments under the mortgage.

(3) A second mortgage for £150 in favour of former lessee for a term of ten years : Half-yearly instalments of principal and interest combined amount to £9 12s. 6d. Successful applicant to pay cost of preparation of mortgage to State Advances Corporation amounting to £3 19s., and also scale costs for the preparation of the second mortgage estimated at £4 10s.

Situated on the Parahi–Waiotira Road, eleven miles and a half from Ruawai, and twelve miles from Matakohe Post-office. Nearest railway-station at Waiotira, seventeen miles. Area is mostly ploughable, with approximately 200 acres in pasture, balance ridge and sidings with scattered bush and rough feed ; watered by streams which are unreliable in dry summers.
