HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Captain and Quartermaster (temp.) G. P. O’Leary, N.Z. Permanent Staff, relinquishes the appointment of General Staff Officer, 3rd Grade (Training), Army Headquarters, is appointed Staff Officer, Ordnance Services, Army Headquarters, and is granted the temporary rank of Major and Quartermaster while so employed. Dated 25th August, 1941.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

Captain T. E. Walker is appointed Company Commander, No. 1 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 9th August, 1941.

Lieutenant C. L. Crump relinquishes the appointment of Platoon Commander, Guards, Vital Points, Northern Military District, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 22nd August, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) S. C. Davies, 15th Company, National Military Reserve, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Officer Commanding, Guards, Vital Points, Area No. 9. Dated 18th August, 1941.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 10, dated 6th February, 1941, relative to the appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (temp.) D. R. Hopkins, 2nd Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), is hereby cancelled and the following substituted:—

“2nd Lieutenant (temp.) D. R. Hopkins, 2nd Battalion, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Adjutant, 1st Reserve Mechanical Transport Company, N.Z. Army Service Corps. Dated 8th January, 1941.”

2nd Lieutenant D. R. Hopkins, Adjutant, 1st Reserve Mechanical Transport Company, N.Z. Army Service Corps, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 20th August, 1941.

THE WELLINGTON EAST COAST MOUNTED RIFLES.

Rolda William Vette to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 7th April, 1941.

N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Captain (temp.) A. E. Lawry, Headquarters, 12th Field Regiment, is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 21st May, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) D. Stonehouse, 37th Battery, 12th Field Regiment, relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 7. Dated 22nd August, 1941.

Captain (temp.) N. L. Vickerman, 4th (Works) Company, is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 22nd July, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp.) J. T. Gilkison, B.E., A.M.I.C.E., 4th (Works) Company, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 7th August, 1941.

Lieutenant R. P. Worley, M.Sc., M.N.Z.I.E., M.N.Z.I.S., 4th (Works) Company, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 7th August, 1941.

Ian Arthur Cromie, A.M.I.C.E., to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 4th (Works) Company. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Lieutenant (temp.) S. Tricklebank, 1st Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 1st August, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) A. R. Wykes, 1st Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 1st August, 1941.
