HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, and transfers of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.
Captain (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) A. E. Gorton, M.M., The Taranaki Regiment, to be Major (temp.), dated 14th May, 1941, and is appointed Officer Commanding, No. 2 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham, dated 19th May, 1941.
COMMANDS.
Captain (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) A. E. Gorton, M.M., The Taranaki Regiment, relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion and the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 31st July, 1941.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) T. T. Murray, M.C., M.M., The Taranaki Regiment, relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain, is appointed to command the 1st Battalion, vice Captain (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) A. E. Gorton, M.M., and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel while so employed. Dated 1st August, 1941.
THE WAIKATO MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain W. W. Buttimore is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 10th April, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) J. Rutherford, 3rd Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 1st May, 1941.
THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT (CITY OF WELLINGTON’S OWN).
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. H. Thom, 1st Cadet Battalion, relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain, and is transferred to the New Zealand Scottish Regiment. Dated 1st August, 1941.

Lieutenant A. H. Thom, from the Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 16th July, 1941, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st August, 1941.
NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE.
Major L. E. Haines, D.S.O., relinquishes command of the 6th Company (Hamilton), and is posted to the 2nd Battalion (Wellington), with seniority from 1st August, 1941. Dated 1st August, 1941.
