Government Life Insurance (Investment) Emergency Regulations 1941.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 27th day of August, 1941.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
PURSUANT to the Emergency Regulations Act, 1939, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations:-

REGULATIONS.

  1. THESE regulations may be cited as the Government Life Insurance (Investment) Emergency Regulations 1941.

  2. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in section twenty-eight of the Government Life Insurance Act, 1908, it shall be lawful, with the approval of the Board constituted under that Act, to invest any part of the moneys from time to time in the Government Insurance Account in securities charged upon the public revenues of New Zealand issued in respect of any loan raised or to be raised for war purposes under the authority of the War Expenses Act, 1939, or of any Act that may be hereafter passed, or in securities issued in renewal or redemption or conversion of any such securities.

Authorizing Northcote Borough Council to fix Water Charges according to Quantity used.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section eighty-five of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby consent to the Northcote Borough Council making and levying water rates and charges in respect both of the ordinary as well as of any extraordinary supply, according to the quantity of water consumed by any person receiving the same as measured by meter, at such rates or charges as may from time to time be fixed by any by-law of the Council in that behalf, or as may be agreed on with any such person.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

Placing Part of Tamaki River under the Control of Dannevirke Borough Council.

WHEREAS by section sixty-two of the Health Act, 1920, it is provided that the Governor-General may, if he thinks fit, in the interests of public health, by notice in the Gazette, place any specified watercourse, stream, lake, or other source of water-supply, or any specified portion thereof, under the control of any local authority for the purpose of preventing the pollution thereof, notwithstanding that it may not be within the district of that local authority, or on land belonging to that local authority:

Now, therefore, I, Cyril Louis Norton Newall, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by section sixty-two of the Health Act, 1920, do by this notice place all those portions of Tamaki River and its tributaries, from the sources of that river and its tributaries on the Ruahine Range to the intake of the Dannevirke Borough Council water-supply, under the control of the Dannevirke Borough Council for the purpose of preventing pollution thereof.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 15th day of August, 1941.
