Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF.

Major H. M. W. Richardson, D.S.O., M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Staff Officer, Fortifications and Works, Army Headquarters, is appointed Assistant Director of Fortifications and Works, Army Headquarters, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel while so employed. Dated 22nd April, 1941.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

Major C. J. W. Parsons, A.M.I.C.E., A.M.(N.Z.)I.E., relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Staff Officer, Fortifications and Works, Army Headquarters, and is appointed Staff Officer, Works, Army Headquarters. Dated 22nd April, 1941.

Captain C. J. McCaughan, N.Z. Dental Corps, ceases to be attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, Wigram. Dated 8th May, 1941.

THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Harold Owen Drake to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 2nd April, 1941.

THE MANAWATU MOUNTED RIFLES.

Ian Pat Nuttall to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 24th April, 1941.

N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS.

Leslie Wilmott Hedge to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 1st Signals Company. Dated 16th February, 1941.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) T. MacG. Penny, 1st Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) E. P. Blampied, 3rd Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

THE NEW ZEALAND SCOTTISH REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) I. T. Galloway, 1st Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 5th March, 1941.

NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE.

Eric Leigh Walker (late Lieutenant, The North Auckland Mounted Rifles) to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 2nd Company (Russell). Dated 1st April, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant J. W. Dawson, 3rd Company (Whangaroa), is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 1st April, 1941.

George Phillip Sage to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st April, 1941.

N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) J. D. M. Todd, 5th Composite Company, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 28th March, 1941.

Albert John Slyfield to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 1st Reserve Mechanical Transport Company. Dated 28th March, 1941.

Ralph Herbert Waterman to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 5th Composite Company. Dated 28th March, 1941.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain A. M. Ross, M.B., Ch.B., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Captain, Northern Military District (unattached), with seniority from 25th June, 1932. Dated 31st March, 1941.

Captain W. H. Bremner, M.B., Ch.B., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Captain, and is appointed to command the 3rd Motor Ambulance Convoy. Dated 18th April, 1941.

Lieutenant (acting Captain) H. H. North, M.B., Ch.B., to be Captain, and remains seconded to the Royal N.Z. Air Force. Dated 27th April, 1941.

Lieutenant F. A. Sundstrum, M.B., Ch.B., to be Captain, and remains seconded to the Royal N.Z. Air Force. Dated 27th April, 1941.

John Ross Duff Eaton, M.B., Ch.B., to be Lieutenant, Central Military District (unattached). Dated 8th April, 1941.

Edgar Francis Fowler, M.B., Ch.B., to be Lieutenant, is posted to the 12th Field Ambulance, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 10th April, 1941.

Francis Eastham Bolt, M.B., Ch.B., to be Lieutenant, Central Military District (unattached). Dated 16th April, 1941.

Alan Samuel Turner, M.B., Ch.B., to be Lieutenant, Central Military District (unattached). Dated 19th April, 1941.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Rev. Dr. E. N. Merrington, M.A., Ph.D., Chaplain, 2nd Class (Presbyterian), is posted to the Retired List. Dated 1st May, 1941.

The Rev. Joseph Patrick Hally to be Chaplain, 4th Class (Roman Catholic), Area 10. Dated 9th April, 1941.

The Rev. Rona McLeod Gourdie to be Chaplain, 4th Class (Church of England), Area 5. Dated 30th April, 1941.
