20th, 23rd, 26th, and 33rd (Canterbury-Otago) Battalions.
Captain S. J. Kelly, 23rd Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Major. Dated 26th December, 1940.
2nd Lieutenant R. M. S. Orbell, 23rd Battalion, is granted the temporary rank of Captain while holding the appointment of Adjutant, 23rd Battalion. Dated 1st October, 1940.
2nd Lieutenant J. D. Gibb is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant while holding the appointment of Adjutant, 33rd Battalion. Dated 1st March, 1941.
TEMPORARY RANK RELINQUISHED.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) E. R. Chesterman, 33rd Battalion, relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain on ceasing to command the Maori Training Company. Dated 20th March, 1941.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) G. C. Weston relinquishes the temporary rank of Captain on ceasing to be Adjutant, 26th Battalion. Dated 18th March, 1941.
TRANSFERS.
Captain J. Vincent, D.C.M., M.M., Composite Training Depot, is transferred to the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force Base Signal School. Dated 1st April, 1941.
2nd Lieutenant T. St. H. Acland, N.Z. Artillery, is transferred to the N.Z. Engineers, with the same relative seniority as at present. Dated 10th April, 1941.
2nd Lieutenant A. Edmonds, 24th (Auckland) Battalion, is transferred to the N.Z. Engineers, with the same relative seniority as at present. Dated 29th December, 1940.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and resignations of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—
REGIMENT OF ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY.
Lance-Bombardier Reginald Milton Nutsford to be Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp.), and is posted to the Electric Light Section, 9th Heavy Regiment, N.Z. Artillery. Dated 19th April, 1941.
N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.
Major (temp.) R. B. Ashe, M.C., V.D., N.Z. Corps of Signals, to be Major (temp.), and is appointed Chief Signals Officer, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 6th April, 1941.
Captain S. W. B. Brooker, M.C., V.D., is granted the temporary rank of Major while commanding No. 2 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Papakura. Dated 19th February, 1941.
NOTE.—Captain S. W. B. Brooker, M.C., V.D., performed the duties of Area Staff Officer, No. 1 Area, Auckland, from 4th March, 1941, to 6th April, 1941.
Captain G. R. Andrews relinquishes the appointment of Company Commander, No. 1 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 11th November, 1940.
Captain R. F. Spragg, 8th Medium Regiment, to be Captain (temp.), and is appointed second in command, 7th Battery. Dated 23rd April, 1941.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) R. D. Hayes, 2nd Composite Company, N.Z. Army Service Corps, to be Lieutenant (temp.), and is appointed Assistant Adjutant, 2nd Composite Company, and 5th Reserve Mechanical Transport Company, N.Z. Army Service Corps, Wellington. Dated 24th April, 1941.
2nd Lieutenant R. S. Cutfield is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 30th April, 1941.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) R. H. Hill, 3rd Battalion, National Military Reserve, to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is attached to “Q” Branch, Southern Military District, Christchurch. Dated 6th January, 1941.
COMMAND.

Captain W. Ricketts, D.C.M., Retired List, to be Captain (temp.), with seniority from 7th August, 1939. Dated 18th February, 1941.
N.Z. ARTILLERY.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) R. E. C. Taylor, from the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the Electric Light Section, 9th Heavy Regiment. Dated 16th March, 1941.
CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.
Harold George Royds to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 7th (Works) Company. Dated 6th December, 1940.
THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) R. E. C. Taylor, 3rd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the N.Z. Artillery. Dated 16th March, 1941.
NATIONAL MILITARY RESERVE.
Lieutenant F. C. Goulding, M.C., 2nd Company (Russell), is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 1st April, 1941.
Henry Woodyear-Smith to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st April, 1941.
N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) S. St. J. Barclay, 1st Composite Company, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 24th April, 1941.
N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend K. J. McFarland, Chaplain, 2nd Class (Church of England), resigns his commission. Dated 24th April, 1941.
Charles Henry Morley, Chaplain, 4th Class (Salvation Army), is transferred from Area 5 to Area 9. Dated 24th April, 1941.
