Approval of Testing Officers under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940.

IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport does hereby approve, until further notice, of the persons named in column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being testing officers under the said regulations for the authority specified in column 1 of the said Schedule.

Classification of Road in Hutt County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport does hereby revoke in so far as it relates to the classification of the road described in the Schedule hereto the Warrant classifying roads in the Hutt County dated the 8th day of August, 1934, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 62 of the 9th day of August, 1934, at page 2454, and does hereby also revoke that Warrant classifying a road in the Hutt County dated the 3rd day of February, 1937, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 10 of the 11th day of February, 1937, at page 392, and does hereby approve of the Main Highways Board’s proposed classification of the road described in the said Schedule and situated in the Hutt County.


SCHEDULE.

Hutt County.

ROAD classified in Class Three: Available for the use thereon of any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle or any trailer which with the load it is carrying has an axle weight of not more than 5 tons on any one axle, or of any other heavy motor-vehicle which with the load it is carrying has an axle weight of not more than 5½ tons on any one axle.

Wellington–Paekakariki Centennial Main Highway No. 34 (that portion within Hutt County from its junction with the Haywards–Paremata via Pahautanui Main Highway at Paremata to its junction with Beach Road, Paekakariki).

Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of making and levying Rates.

I, FRANK LANGSTONE, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of powers conferred upon me by the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, do hereby make and levy on the unimproved value of all lands within the district constituted under the said Act the general rates to meet maintenance costs for the period 1st April, 1940, to 31st March, 1941, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 20th December, 1940.

The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Land Drainage Engineer, at Kerepeehi, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.


SCHEDULE.

Class A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, fourpence and fifty-four one-hundredths of a penny (4·54d.) in the pound.

Class B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, twopence and six-tenths of a penny (2·6d.) in the pound.

Class C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, sixty-five one-hundredths of a penny (0·65d.) in the pound.

EXTRACT FROM THE JOURNALS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, FRIDAY, THE 11TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1940.

Ordered: “That the Report of the Lands Committee on Paper 162, that Section 80, Block III, being land in the Whangape Survey District, North Auckland Land District, be reserved as an endowment for Primary Education, be agreed to.” (On motion of the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes.)
