HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) and the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand):—

David Horn, Esquire, entered as Temporary Lieutenant, Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) (to serve under T. 124 Agreement), to date 29th August, 1940, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Futurist,” to date 29th August, 1940, and for H.M.S. “Futurist,” in command, to date 31st August, 1940.

Arthur Michael Halliday, Esquire, re-entered as Probationary Temporary Sub-Lieutenant, Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand), to date 29th August, 1940, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for minesweepers additional, for training, to date 29th August, 1940.

Leading Seaman John O’Connell Ross, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, W/3625, promoted to Probationary Sub-Lieutenant, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), to date 9th September, 1940, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, to date 9th September, 1940.

Leading Seaman Robert Lloyd Stephenson Black, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, W/3475, promoted to Probationary Sub-Lieutenant, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), to date 10th September, 1940, and appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, to date 10th September, 1940.

Lieutenant-Commander Alister Barclay Gilfillan, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “South Sea,” to date 31st July, 1940, and to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “South Sea” in command, on commissioning.

Lieutenant Eric Walter Garner, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Wakakura” additional, temporarily, to date 22nd June, 1940, and to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for duty at Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Headquarters, Auckland, on relief.

Lieutenant Ebenezer Wallis Browne, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for training duties at Wellington Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Headquarters, vice Stephenson, to date 3rd August, 1940.
