Appointment in the New Zealand Naval Forces.

THIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve the following appointment in the New
Zealand Naval Forces:-

Acting Gunner (T) John Walker, New Zealand Naval
Forces, confirmed in the rank of Gunner (T), with
seniority of 22nd September, 1939.

Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers of the
New Zealand Military Forces.

THIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
and transfers of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:-

STAFF.

Captain D. C. W. Cossgrove, N.Z. Temporary Staff, re-
linquishes the appointment of Officer in Charge, Sick
and Wounded Records, Southern Military District,
Christchurch, and is appointed Officer in Charge, Sick
and Wounded Records, Army Headquarters, Wellington.
Dated 7th September, 1940.

Lieutenant W. G. Brian, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of Assistant Area Officer, No. 5 Area,
Wellington, and is appointed Officer in Charge, Sick and
Wounded Records, Headquarters, Central Military Dis-
trict, Wellington. Dated 7th September, 1940.

Lieutenant A. J. D. Morten, N.Z. Temporary Staff, re-
linquishes the appointment of Assistant Area Officer,
No. 10 Area, Christchurch, and retains the appointment
of Adjutant, The Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, Christ-
church. Dated 7th August, 1940.

N.Z. PERMANENT STAFF.

W.O. I (Staff Sergeant-Major) Frederick Underwood Booth
to be Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp.) and is
appointed Assistant Camp Quartermaster, Waiouru
Military Camp. Dated 7th September, 1940.

N.Z. ARMY PAY CORPS.

Hon. Lieutenant D. D. Purves is appointed Paymaster,
Mobilization Camp, Papakura. Dated 9th September,
1940.

William Charles McCarlie to be Honorary Lieutenant and
is attached to Pay, Accounts, and Base Records Office,
Wellington. Dated 27th June, 1940.

Hon. Lieutenant W. C. McCarlie is appointed Assistant
Records Officer, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated
9th September, 1940.

Richard Alfred Bolland to be Honorary Lieutenant and
is appointed Records Officer, Mobilization Camp, Trent-
ham. Dated 3rd July, 1940.

Angus William Cameron Gorrie to be Honorary Lieutenant
and is appointed Assistant Paymaster, Mobilization
Camp, Trentham. Dated 9th September, 1940.

Claude Belcher Macdonald to be Honorary Lieutenant
and is appointed Records Officer, Mobilization Camp,
Ngaruawahia. Dated 9th September, 1940.

Richard Seymour Powell to be Honorary Lieutenant and
is appointed Assistant Paymaster, Mobilization Camp,
Papakura. Dated 9th September, 1940.

Charles Richard Ruscoe to be Honorary Lieutenant and
is appointed Assistant Paymaster, Mobilization Camp,
Ngaruawahia. Dated 9th September, 1940.

Joseph Hadfield Westby Sheppard to be Honorary
Lieutenant and is appointed Assistant Paymaster,
Mobilization Camp, Burnham. Dated 9th September,
1940.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

The undermentioned Lieutenants are granted the temporary
rank of Captain. Dated 3rd September, 1940:-

Captain F. W. Moor, D.C.M., Reserve of Officers, N.Z.
Medical Corps, to be Captain, and is appointed Staff

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants
(acting Captains):-

Lieutenant A. E. Hope ceases to be attached to the Royal
N.Z. Air Force Station, Ohakea, and is attached to the
Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, New Plymouth. Dated
13th September, 1940.

W.O. II (Staff Sergeant-Major) Robert William Borland
to be 2nd Lieutenant and is appointed Officer in Charge,
Sick and Wounded Records, Headquarters, Southern
Military District, Christchurch. Dated 7th September,
1940.

THE OTAGO MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) (Quartermaster) J. B. Townsend
to be Lieutenant (temp.) (Quartermaster). Dated 13th
August, 1940.

THE MANAWATU MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant H. M. Blunden is transferred to the Reserve
of Officers, Class I (b), Area 6. Dated 6th September,
1940.

THE NELSON-MARLBOROUGH MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant K. K. Gascoigne, The Nelson, Marlborough,
and West Coast Regiment, is attached under the pro-
visions of paragraph 141, Regulations for the N.Z.
Military Forces, 1927. Dated 9th August, 1940.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Percy Sidney Stanley, M.C. (late Captain, Indian Army),
to be Captain (temp.). Dated 25th July, 1940.

N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant W. A. Bryden, The Wellington West Coast
Regiment, is attached to the 3rd Battery, 2nd Field
Regiment, with seniority from 1st September, 1938.
Dated 5th September, 1940.

Lieutenant H. W. S. Walker, from the Reserve of Officers,
to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 1st July, 1940, and
is posted to the 4th Battery, 2nd Field Regiment.
Dated 5th September, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant O. M. Henrici, 16th Anti-aircraft Battery,
is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated
26th August, 1940.

posted to the 2nd Field Regiment. Dated 1st September,

Robert Alfred Bradshaw-Smith, B.Sc. (Lond.), A.M.I.C.E.
(late Captain, Special List, attached Royal Engineers,
India), to be Captain (temp.) and is appointed to com-
mand the 1st Field Company temporarily. Dated 29th
July, 1940.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT (CITY OF WELLINGTON'S OWN).

The undermentioned are transferred to the Reserve of
Officers, Class I (b), Area 5. Dated 5th September, 1940:-

Major R. J. Wells, 1st Battalion.
Captain C. R. Bach, 1st Battalion.

2nd Lieutenant L. L. J. Du Flou, D.C.M., 1st Battalion, is
granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 22nd
August, 1940.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

Major E. H. Whiting ceases to be seconded to Central
Military District Headquarters for duty as Publicity
Officer, and is attached to Army Headquarters,
Wellington, for duty as Publicity Officer. Dated 1st
June, 1940.

Lieutenant W. A. Bryden, 1st Battalion, is attached to the
N.Z. Artillery. Dated 5th September, 1940.

THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.

Leslie Ralfe Curtis to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.) and is
posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 6th June, 1940.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Captain E. Lunn, 4th Cadet Battalion, is seconded to the
Royal N.Z. Air Force. Dated 1st January, 1940.
