Notice under the Mining Act, 1926.—Mining Privilege held by His Majesty the King surrendered.
WHEREAS the mining privilege described in the Schedule hereto is no longer required by the Crown, and whereas it is deemed expedient to surrender such mining privilege, notice is therefore hereby given in pursuance of section 97 (4) of the Mining Act, 1926, that the said mining privilege is surrendered as from the date hereof.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.
IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein, shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.
SCHEDULE.
SITUATED within Taieri County—
All that area at Middlemarch commencing at the junction of the eastern boundary of the Mosgiel-Middlemarch-Dunback Main Highway with the northern boundary of Conway Street; thence along the eastern boundary of the said main highway to a point 4 chains north of the northern boundary of Flint Street; thence by a right line across the said main highway; thence along the western boundary of the said main highway to Browns Road; thence along the north-eastern boundary of Browns Road to a point 3 chains north-west of the western boundary of the said main highway; thence by a right line across Browns Road; thence along the south-western boundary of Browns Road to the said main highway; thence along the western boundary of the said main highway to a point 8 chains south of the south-western boundary of Browns Road; thence by a right line across the said main highway; thence along the eastern boundary of the said main highway to Browns Road; thence along the south-western boundary of Browns Road to the western boundary of the New Zealand Government Otago Central Railway Reserve; thence along the western boundary of the said railway reserve to the prolongation of the northern boundary of Conway Street; thence by a right line to and along the northern boundary of Conway Street to the commencement point; the whole area being indicated by the plan marked TT. 1647, deposited at the office of the Transport Department at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Private Hospital.—Revocation of License.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 133 (3) of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Health, do hereby revoke the private-hospital license held by the late Miss Charlotte Marryatt for premises situated at Spencer Street, Milton.

Law Practitioners Amendment Act, 1935.
PURSUANT to the Law Practitioners Amendment Act, 1935, notice is hereby given that the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Law Society on the 2nd day of August, 1940, ordered that the name of Luther Hopkins, late of Te Aroha, be struck off the Rolls of Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—AUCKLAND HARBOUR.
Alteration to Prohibited Anchorage.
Previous Notice: No. 58 of 1924, hereby amended.
Position: Lat., 36° 50′ S.; long., 174° 45′ E. (approx.).
Alterations: The eastern boundary of the prohibited anchorage between Stokes Point and Point Erin has been moved 360 ft. eastward and the marking beacons re-established on the eastern end of the new reclamation inside St. Mary’s Bay Breakwater.
The beacons are situated approximately 274° 700 ft. and 266° 760 ft. from the light on the western side of the breakwater opening, and, as before, are in line bearing 213°. Each beacon carries a triangular surmount and marked cable; a fixed green light is exhibited from the front and a fixed red light from the rear beacon.

Details: The protected yacht and launch anchorage, Area No. 3, in Stanley Bay, has been cancelled.

The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1940.
LAND-TAX PAYABLE.
BY Order in Council, made and issued by His Excellency the Governor-General in Council on the 31st day of July, 1940, under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the duty by way of land-tax leviable under the said Act should be paid in one sum on Tuesday, the 1st day of October, 1940, at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Wellington, C. 3; and, in accordance with such Order in Council, I hereby give notice that the said duty will be payable accordingly.
Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not paid on or before 22nd October, 1940. The liability to pay is not suspended by any objection. The tax should be paid on or before the prescribed date, otherwise the additional percentage accrues; any overpayment will be adjusted by refund. The demands will be posted from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes on or about 24th September, 1940. Demands must be presented with all payments, and taxpayers who expect a demand and do not receive one should notify me of the fact.
