New Plymouth Aerodrome.

In the matter of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1935, and in the matter of the New Plymouth Aerodrome in the Taranaki Land District.

WHEREAS it has been agreed between the registered proprietors and the lessee of the land described in the Schedule hereto, and the Minister of Public Works, that a certain sum of money shall be paid as compensation in respect of the limitation of the height to which any buildings may be erected, or permitted, or allowed to be erected or permitted, or to which any trees may be grown or permitted to be grown on the land described in the Schedule hereto on and after the fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and forty:

Now, therefore, I, Robert Semple, the Minister of Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section 4 of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1935, do hereby give notice for the purpose of making the New Plymouth Aerodrome safe for aviation purposes—

  1. That I prohibit the erection, placing, or extension, without my consent of any building, pole, mast, or other structure of any kind on the land described in the Schedule hereto beyond a plane commencing at a height of five feet at the boundary of the said aerodrome and increased by one-twentieth part of the distance measured horizontally between the said boundary and the portion of the said land upon which any building, pole, mast, or other structure is proposed to be erected;

  2. That I limit the height to which trees may be grown or permitted to grow without my consent on the land described in the said Schedule to the height beyond which the erection, placing, or extension, without my consent, of any building, pole, mast, or other structure is prohibited by the last preceding clause hereof.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece of land being parts Sections 763 and 133, Waitara West District, being parts Lot 3, D.P. 4951, Block III, Partutu Survey District, being land contained in Certificates of Title, Vol. 120, folio 236, and Vol. 10, folio 222, Taranaki Registry, such land being more particularly shown on the plan marked P.W.D. 108489, deposited in my office at Wellington, and thereon edged green.

Whenuapai Aerodrome.

In the matter of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1935, and in the matter of the Whenuapai Aerodrome in the North Auckland Land District.

WHEREAS it has been agreed between William Thomas Nixon, of Whenuapai, Farmer, and the Minister of Public Works that a certain sum of money shall be paid as compensation in respect of the limitation of the height to which trees may be grown or allowed to grow on the land described in the Schedule hereto on and after the twenty-eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and forty:

Now, therefore, I, Robert Semple, the Minister of Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by section 4 of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1935, do hereby give notice that, for the purpose of making the Whenuapai Aerodrome safe for aviation purposes, I limit the height to which trees may be grown or allowed to grow on the land described in the said Schedule to five feet above the ground-level on the boundary of the said aerodrome nearest that portion of the said land upon which any tree is proposed to be grown or is allowed to grow increased by one-twentieth part of the distance measured on a horizontal plane between the said boundary and the said portion of the said land.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece of land, containing approximately 71 acres 0 roods 15 perches, situated in the North Auckland Land District, and being part Allotment 42, Waipareira Parish, Block X, Waitemata Survey District, comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 105, folio 36, Auckland Registry, such land being shown by a red border on the plan marked P.W.D. 108109, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

The Slipper Manufacturing Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1940.

WHEREAS it appears to me to be expedient for maintaining supplies and services essential to the life of the community, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, pursuant to the Labour Legislation Emergency Regulations 1940, do hereby order as follows:—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Slipper Manufacturing Labour Legislation Suspension Order 1940.

  2. This Order applies to the male employees of the Carlyle Slipper Co., Ltd., Christchurch, engaged in slipper manufacturing, and to the employer of those workers.

  3. The provisions of all Acts and all regulations thereunder and of all awards and industrial agreements under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, and of all other voluntary agreements affecting conditions of employment shall be and are hereby suspended so far as any such provisions operate to prevent or restrict the employment of the said workers on shift work while engaged in the manufacture of slippers.

  4. This Order shall be deemed to have come into effect on and from the 1st day of July, 1940.

  5. This Order shall remain in operation only until the factory of New Zealand Slippers, Ltd., which was destroyed by fire, is again ready to proceed with the manufacture of slippers.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Tauranga) Order 1940.

PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations 1940, and pursuant to a requisition in writing received in that behalf, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows:—

  1. This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Tauranga) Order 1940.

  2. This Order shall come into force on the 23rd day of September, 1940.

  3. This Order shall apply to all establishments engaged in the sale by retail of oil fuel and situate within a radius of twelve miles from the post-office in the Borough of Tauranga but shall not apply to any such establishment situate within the Mount Maunganui Town District.

  4. On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments except as hereinafter provided shall be closed for the sale of oil fuel during the whole of every Sunday and shall on every Friday be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. and closed at all other times on every Friday and on every other day of the week shall be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days: Provided that where in any week a race meeting is held on a Saturday by the Bay of Plenty Racing Club this Order shall not apply to such establishments from 8 a.m. on the Friday of such week until 9 p.m. on the Monday immediately following: Provided, also, that in respect of Easter week-end this Order shall not apply to such establishments from 8 a.m. on the Thursday immediately preceding Good Friday until 9 p.m. on Easter Monday: Provided, further, that this Order shall not apply to such establishments from 8 a.m. on the 19th December in each year until 9 p.m. on the 31st January in the following year.

  5. In every successive week commencing upon the coming into force of this Order one of the establishments hereinafter named shall in the weekly rotation hereinafter set out be opened for the sale of oil fuel on every Sunday from 9 a.m. till 9 p.m. and on every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday shall be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m.

Second week . . . . . . Enterprise Service Station.
Third week . . . . . . Hewlett and Company, Limited.
Fourth week . . . . . . Moore’s Service Station.
Fifth week . . . . . . Snowden’s Service Station.
Sixth week . . . . . . C. F. Washer, Limited.

  1. Nothing in this Order shall affect the supply at any time on the authority of an officer of Police by the establishment which is open during the particular week until 9 p.m. in pursuance of clause 5 hereof of oil fuel that is urgently required.
