Appointments in the Public Service.
Office of the Public Service Commissioner,
Wellington, 11th September, 1940.
THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following
appointments in the Public Service:—
Lindsay Stewart Dixon,
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Factories Act,
1921-22, on and from the 2nd day of September, 1940.
Norman Pelvin,
to be a District Registrar of Apprentices for the purposes
of the Apprentices Act, 1923, on and from the 1st day of
August, 1940.
George Chamberlain,
to be an Analyst for the purposes of the Sale of Food and
Drugs Act, 1908, on and from the 2nd day of September,
1940.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred on me by the Marriage Act, 1908, and the
Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, I, Keith Doidge
Cameron Morrison, Acting Deputy Registrar-General, do
hereby appoint
Albert Errol Crimp
to be the Deputy of the Registrar of Marriages and of Births
and Deaths for the District of Gore.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XVI, Waipara
Survey District, for Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute
a certain public work—to wit, the construction of road—
and for the purposes of such public work the land described
in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice
is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required
to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Hawarden and
is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected
by the execution of the said public work or by the taking
of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said public work or to the
taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send
such writing, within forty days from the first publication
of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :
1 rood 9 perches.
Being part Rural Section 34067.
Situated in Block XVI, Waipara Survey District (Canter-
bury R.D.). (S.O. 7198.)
In the Canterbury Land District; and the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 107328,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
As witness my hand at Wellington, this 10th day of
September, 1940.

Notice that it is no longer proposed to proceed with the Taking of Land in Blocks X and IX, Belmont Survey District, for Housing Purposes.

WHEREAS notice was given bearing the date the 18th day of November, 1936, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette of the 19th day of November, 1936, at page 2268, that it was proposed under the provisions of the Public
Works Act, 1928, and section 32 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, to take for housing purposes the land described in the
Schedule to the said notice and being situated in Blocks X and IX, Belmont Survey District :
And whereas notice was thereby further given that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should if they had
any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land set forth the same in writing and send such writing within forty days
from the first publication of the said notice to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington :
And whereas certain persons affected as aforesaid have sent to the Minister of Public Works objections to the taking of
such land :
And whereas due consideration has been given to the said objections :
Now, therefore, I, Robert Semple, the Minister of Public Works, hereby give notice that it is no longer proposed to take
the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes set out in the said notice dated the 18th day of November, 1936
