Change of Name of Locality “Pembroke” to “Wanaka.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS settlers in the locality known as “Pembroke,” in the County of Lake, desire that the name of such locality should be changed to “Wanaka,” and it is considered expedient to alter the same:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Designation of Districts Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the name of the locality known as “Pembroke,” in the County of Lake, shall be and the same is hereby altered to “Wanaka,” and do assign the last-mentioned name to such locality accordingly; and also do hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and forty, not being earlier than six months after the first publication thereof in the Gazette.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 28th day of February, 1940.

Crown Land set apart as a Permanent State Forest.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section eighteen of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto as a permanent State forest.

SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WESTLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, Grey County, containing 23 acres 3 roods 9 perches, more or less, being part of Section 2903, situated in Block XI, Mawheranui Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the southernmost corner of Section 2903, Block XI, Mawheranui Survey District, and proceeding along the south-eastern boundary of the said section on a bearing of 46° 30’ for 2200 links; thence by lines bearing 280° 30’ for 2800 links, 318° 6’ for 2271·4 links, 259° 0’ for 232·2 links to the north-eastern side of a public road; thence along the north-eastern side of the said public road bearing 130° 5’ for 1010 links, 133° 44’ for 575·1 links, 138° 33’ for 1026·3 links, 137° 33’ for 989·6 links, and 161° 55’ for 1181·9 links to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 119/38, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 21st day of August, 1940.

Land set apart as an Addition to the Frankton Aerodrome Reserve.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by subsection nine of section twelve of the Land Act, 1924, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the date hereof the land comprised in the piece of closed road described in the First Schedule hereto, being an area adjacent to or intersecting the reserve for aerodrome purposes, described in the Second Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be added to the said reserve.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 1526R, Block XXXIII, Town of Frankton: Area, 1 rood 20 perches, more or less.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 4, Block XXXIII, Town of Frankton: Area, 3 acres 3 roods 1 perch, more or less.

Also all that area containing 3 acres 1 rood 13 perches, more or less, being Section 1483R, Block XIX, Section 3, Section 1484R, and part Section 4, Block XXIV, Town of Frankton, bounded: Towards the north-west by Hospital Reserve, 376 links; towards the north-east by Section 1485R, Block XXXIV, 886 links; towards the south-east by other part of Section 4, 376 links; and towards the south-west by Cumberland Street, 886 links; be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 54813F, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 21st day of August, 1940.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Scenery Preservation Board, constituted pursuant to the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), has recommended that the lands described in the Schedule hereto should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be scenic reserves under the said Act, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.
ALL that area containing 3 acres, more or less, being Reserve 1774 (formerly closed road), situated in Block XI, Kaniere Survey District.

Also all that area containing 11 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Reserve 1775 (formerly closed road), situated in Blocks XI and XII, Kaniere Survey District.

As the same are more particularly delineated on plan marked L. and S. 4/176B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Also all that area containing 28 acres 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, being Reserve 1795, situated in Block XI, Kaniere Survey District.

As the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked L. and S. 4/176C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 21st day of August, 1940.

PURSUANT to section five of the Native Purposes Act, 1939, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1936.
