due south to the western bush edge of Mount Newcombe,
and southerly by the western bush edges of the Mount
Newcombe and Mount Elizabeth ranges to the eastern
boundary of Block XVI, Kopara Survey District; thence
due south to the south-eastern corner of said Block XVI;
then in a south-easterly direction along the southern
boundary of Blocks XIII and XIV, Haupiri Survey District,
to Trig. H.P. (Hurunui Saddle); thence south-westerly
along the Grey County boundary to and across the Taramakau
River, and along the right bank of the said river to Trig. XJ;
then westerly along the northern edge of flat land to the
eastern boundary of Section 814, Block V, Taramakau Survey
District; thence along the eastern, northern, and western
boundaries of the said section to the edge of the flat land,
and along the northern edge of the flat land to the eastern
boundary of Section 813; thence along the eastern, northern,
and western boundaries of the said section, to the edge of
the flat land; thence westerly along the northern edge of
the flat land to the eastern boundary of Section 753; thence
along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of the
said section to the edge of the flat land and westerly along the
northern edge of this flat to a creek; thence along the left
bank of this creek to the Taramakau River and along the
right bank of the said river to a point in line with north-
eastern boundary of Section 2218, Block VI, Otira Survey
District, to and along the said boundary and its production
to a point in line with the north-western boundary of
Section 797; thence to and along the said boundary of
Section 797 and its production to the Taramakau River;
then north-westerly along the right bank of the Taramakau
River to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section
3634, to and along that boundary and the northern boundary
of the said section and the north-eastern and north-western
boundaries of Section 2297 and the latter boundary produced
to the Taramakau River; thence along the right bank of
the said river to a point in line with the eastern boundary
of Section 2562 and to and along the said boundary to the
point of commencement; excluding therefrom all the open
and scrub tops of Mount Alexander Range lying to the
westward of a line bearing 180° Trig. Station XC (Mount
Howe).
As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No.
120/25, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest
Service at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Also all that area containing approximately 63,563 acres,
being formerly part of Provisional State Forest No. 1598 (Gazette
1919, page 1289—national-endowment provisional State
forest, 11,982 acres), part of Provisional State Forest No.
1599 (Gazette 1920, page 2303—national-endowment pro-
visional State forest, 2,073 acres), part of Provisional State
Forest 1612 (Gazette 1920, page 2839—national-endowment
provisional State forest, 3692 acres), part of Provisional State
Forest No. 1660 (Gazette, 1919, page 1289—ordinary pro-
visional State forest, 5,388 acres), Provisional State Forest
No. 1674 (Gazette 1919, page 1287—ordinary provisional
State forest, 8,728 acres), part of Provisional State Forest
No. 1695 (Gazette 1919, page 1284—ordinary provisional
State forest, 16,184 acres), Provisional State Forest No. 1702
(Gazette 1920, page 2837—national-endowment provisional
State forest, 15,500 acres), and Crown land (16 acres),
situated in Blocks IV, VII, and VIII, Mawhera-nui Survey
District, Blocks I, V, VI, VII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV,
XV, and XVI, Ahaura Survey District, and Blocks I, II,
III, IV, VII, and VIII, Kopara Survey District, and bounded
generally as follows: Commencing at the south-eastern
corner of Section 1, Block XIII, Ahaura Survey District,
and proceeding along the north-eastern boundary of that
section and its production to and across Nelson Creek;
then along the right bank of Nelson Creek to a point in
line with the southern boundary of Section 2947; thence to
and along that boundary and along the eastern boundaries
of Section 1975, the north-eastern boundaries of Section
3097, a road reserve, Sections 3096, 3095, and 3178, and Sections
4, 3, 2, and 1, Block IX, Ahaura Survey District, and the
latter boundary produced to the left bank of the left branch
of Nelson Creek; thence easterly along the said left branch
to a point in line with the eastern boundary produced of
Section 3702, Block VIII, Mawhera-nui Survey District;
thence to and along the said eastern boundary of Section
3702 and that boundary produced across a road reserve;
thence westerly along the northern boundary of the said
road reserve to a gravel reserve; thence along the north-
eastern boundary of the said gravel reserve to the eastern
boundary of Block VIII, Mawhera-nui Survey District;
thence northerly along the eastern boundary of Block VIII,
Mawhera-nui Survey District, to the right bank of Gow’s
Creek; thence westerly along the right bank of Gow’s Creek
and the right bank of Nelson Creek to a track; thence along
the northern side of the said track to the eastern boundary of
Section 27, Block VII, Mawhera-nui Survey District; thence
along the said eastern boundary of the said section, the
south-eastern boundary of Section 2902, and the south-
western and south-eastern boundaries of Section 2748, and
the latter boundary produced across a road reserve; thence
along the eastern side of the said road reserve to the southern
boundary of Section 39; thence along the said boundary
of Section 39, the south-western boundary of Section 3210,
and the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of
Section 647, the latter boundary produced to and across
Callaghan’s Creek; thence by the right bank of the said
Callaghan’s Creek to a point in line with the south-eastern
boundary of Section 3147; thence to and along the said
boundary and the north-eastern boundary of the said Section
3147 and the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 2752 and
1855 to a point in line with the north-western boundary of
Section 33, Block I, Ahaura Survey District; thence to and
along the said boundary and the south-western boundary
of the said section to its most southern corner; thence along
a right line in a south-easterly direction to the south-western
corner of Section 5; thence along the southern boundary of
the said Section 5 to its south-eastern corner; thence along
a right line in a south-easterly direction to the most westerly
corner of Ferry Reserve 16 and along the southern and south-
eastern boundaries of the said reserve and the latter boundary
produced to the left bank of the Ahaura River; thence along
the said left bank of the Ahaura River to a point in line with
the western boundary of Section 175; thence to and along
the said boundary of that section, the southern boundary of
Section 11, and the south-western boundaries of Sections 1
and 2967, to the most southern corner of the latter section;
thence along a right line in a north-easterly direction to the
most southern corner of Section 9, Block V, Ahaura Survey
District, and along the south-eastern boundary of that section
to its most eastern corner; thence along a right line in a
south-easterly direction to the north-western corner of Section
4, Block VI, Ahaura Survey District; thence along the
western and south-western boundaries of that section to its
most southern corner and along a line bearing 124° for 23000
links; thence due north to the left bank of the Ahaura
River; thence along the said river bank to a point in line
with the south-western boundary of Section 1, Block XI,
Ahaura Survey District; thence to and along the said
boundary and the south-eastern boundary of Section 1
produced to the Ahaura River and again by the said river
bank to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section
1, Block XII, Ahaura Survey District; thence to and along
the southern boundary of the said section produced to the
Ahaura River; thence by the said river bank to a point in
line with the western boundary of Section 3123; thence to
and along the said boundary of Section 3123, a road reserve,
and along the south-western boundaries of Sections 3360
and 3049, the north-western and the south-western boundaries
of Section 3347 to its most southern corner; thence along a
right line due south to the left bank of the Haupiri River
and by the said river bank to a point in line with the
northern boundary of Section 648, Block IV, Kopara Survey
District; thence to and along the northern and the western
boundaries of the said section 648, and the western boundary
of Section 2583, and the same produced to the left bank of
the Haupiri River; thence along the left bank of the Haupiri
River to a point in line with the northern boundary of
Section 3694, Block VIII, Kopara Survey District; thence
to and along the northern and north-western boundaries of
the said section and the latter produced to the Haupiri
River; thence by the said river bank to a point 2000 links
from the northern side of the Nelson Creek—Kopara Road;
thence by a line 2000 links from and parallel to said road
and the northern shore of Lake Haupiri to the Nelson Creek—
Kopara Road; thence along the eastern side of the said
road to the north-eastern corner of Reserve 995, Block II,
Kopara Survey District; thence along the northern and the
western boundaries of the said Reserve 995 to the Nelson
Creek—Kopara Road; again along the eastern side of the
said road to the south-western corner of Section 1, Block
XIII, Ahaura Survey District, and along the south-eastern
boundary of that section to the point of commencement;
excluding therefrom Lake Ahaura, Lake Hochstetter, Section
3586, Block X, Ahaura Survey District, all public roads,
and all that area containing 1,259 acres bounded to the north
by the shores of Lake Hochstetter and Section 3586; on
the east by the western boundaries of Blocks XI and XV,
Ahaura Survey District, on the south by a line bearing
108° 30′ for 19900 links, and on the west by the production
of the western boundary of Section 3586 for 1800 links.
As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No.
120/25, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest
Service at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Also all those areas containing approximately 79,250
acres and described as follows:—
All that area containing approximately 76,969 acres,
being formerly part of Provisional State Forest No. 1596
(Gazette 1919, page 1289—national-endowment provisional
State forest, 2,080 acres), part of Provisional State Forest
