Crown Land and Provisional State Forests set apart as Permanent State Forests.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section eighteen of the Forests Act, 1921-22, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the Crown land and provisional State forests described in the Schedule hereto as permanent State forests.

SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WESTLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.

ALL those areas in the Westland Land District containing approximately 414,013 acres (provisional State forest, 334,382 acres, and Crown land, 79,631 acres) and described as follows:—

All those areas, containing approximately 3,624 acres, and described as follows:—

All that area containing approximately 2,887 acres, being formerly part of Provisional State Forest No. 1613 (Gazette 1920, page 2839—national-endowment provisional State forest), situated in Blocks VI and VII, Haupiri Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at the south-western corner of Section 2579, Block VI, Haupiri Survey District, and proceeding easterly along the southern boundary of that section, and the western, southern, and eastern boundaries of Section 2580 to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 2581; thence along a right line to and across Waikiti River and along the southern boundaries of the said Section 2581, a road reserve, again Section 2581, a road reserve, Sections 2 and 2873, and the latter boundary produced to the Tutikuri River; thence in a southerly direction along the left bank of Tutikuri River for 10600 links; thence due west to the eastern bush edge of Mount Ranunculus; thence northerly and south-westerly along the bush edge of the said mountain to its intersection with the production of the aforesaid line due west; thence again by the aforesaid line due west to the eastern bush edge of Mount Newcombe; thence northerly and south-westerly along the bush edge of the said mountain to its intersection with the production of the aforesaid line due west; thence again along the aforesaid line due west to the western boundary of Block VI, Haupiri Survey District; thence along that boundary to the southern boundary of Reserve 382 and easterly along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Also all that area containing approximately 797 acres, being formerly part of Provisional State Forest No. 1613 (Gazette 1920, page 2839—national-endowment provisional State forest, 717 acres), and Crown land (20 acres), situated in Block VIII, Haupiri Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at a point on the eastern boundary of Section 2675, distant 6200 links from its north-eastern corner and proceeding due east to the western bush edge of Mount Ajax Range; thence northerly along the bush edge of the said range to a point 6000 links due east of the eastern boundary of Section 2674; thence due north to the northern boundary of Block VIII, Haupiri Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of said Block VIII and the eastern boundaries of Sections 2674 and 2675 to the point of commencement.

As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 120/25, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Also all that area, containing approximately 89,307 acres, being formerly part of Provisional State Forest No. 1094 (section 61, Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1921-22—national-endowment provisional State forest, 18,523 acres, and ordinary provisional State forest, 6,232 acres), part of Provisional State Forest No. 1575 (section 61, Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1921-22—national-endowment provisional State forest, 3,300 acres, and ordinary provisional State forest, 7,009 acres), part of Provisional State Forest 1576 (section 61, Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1921-22—national-endowment provisional State forest, 210 acres), part of Provisional State Forest No. 1614 (Gazette 1920, page 2839—national-endowment provisional State forest, 15,536 acres), part of Provisional State Forest 1660 (Gazette 1919, page 1289—ordinary provisional State forest 6,382 acres), Provisional State Forest No. 1663 (Gazette 1919, page 1288—ordinary provisional State forest, 5,220 acres), part of Provisional State Forest No. 1727 (Gazette 1931, page 837—national-endowment provisional State forest, 1,240 acres, and ordinary provisional State forest 1,480 acres), and Crown land 24,175 acres, situated in Blocks I, II, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Kopara Survey District, Blocks V, IX, and XIII, Haupiri Survey District, Blocks XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Te Kings Survey District, Blocks I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, and VIII, Otira Survey District, and Blocks I, II, III, V, and VI, Taramakan Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Commencing at north-eastern corner of Section 2562, Block 1, Otira Survey District, and proceeding along the northern boundaries of the said section and Section 2208; thence along the eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Subdivision 1 of Section 868, the latter produced to the Slaty Creek; thence along the left bank of Slaty Creek to a point in line with south-eastern boundary of Section 3192; thence to and along the south-eastern and the north-eastern boundaries of the said section, and the south-eastern boundary of Section 2853, to the eastern corner of the latter section; thence along a right line in a north-easterly direction to the south-western corner of Section 3352; thence along the south-western and the south-eastern boundaries of the said section, the latter boundary produced for 6600 links; thence in a north-westerly direction along a right line bearing 329° 38' to and across Evan's River; thence along the right bank of Evan's River to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 3352; thence northerly along the said boundary produced 1000 links; thence along a right line due west to the Crooked River and along the right bank of the said river to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Subdivision 1 of Section 856; thence to and along the said boundary and the northern boundary of the said section to the eastern boundary of Section 3415; thence along the eastern and northern boundaries of the said section to a point on the southern side of a road reserve 3614-7 links from the said section's north-eastern corner; thence along lines bearing 346° 30' for 4200 links, 256° 30' for 2000 links, and a right line in a northerly direction to the south-eastern corner of Section 3417; thence along the eastern boundaries of that section and Section 3416 to the easternmost corner of the said Section 3416; thence along a right line in a north-easterly direction to the most southern corner of Section 1538 and along the south-eastern boundaries of that section and Section 1976 to the north-eastern corner of the latter section; thence along a right line to the south-western corner of Section 3649, and along the south-eastern boundaries of that section, Sections 3650 and 3651, the north-western and south-eastern boundaries of Sections 3652, 3571, and 3264, to the southern corner of the latter section; thence in a south-easterly direction along a right line to the most western corner of Section 6, and along the south-western boundary of that section, the north-western boundary of Section 2694, the north-western, south-western, and south-eastern boundaries of Section 3031, across a road reserve, the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Section 1, Block XI, Kopara Survey District, and the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Section 2582, produced to the left bank of the Haupiri River; thence along the said river bank to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 2684, to and along that boundary to the south-western corner of said Section 2584; thence generally in a southerly direction along the western edge of the flat land, the western side of the track to the Hot Springs and again the western edge of the flat land to the right branch of the Haupiri River; thence due south across the said river and along its right bank to the aforesaid track; thence in a south-easterly direction for 4000 links along the western side of the said track; thence north-easterly across the left branch of the Haupiri River and in a north-westerly direction along the right bank of the Haupiri River to a point in line with the eastern boundary of the northern portion of the aforesaid Section 2584; thence to and along the eastern and northern boundaries of the aforesaid Section 2584 to its north-western corner; thence along a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section 2582, along the eastern boundary of the said section, the north-eastern boundaries of Section 1, Block VII, Kopara Survey District, and Sections 2, 1, and 3, Block VII, Kopara Survey District, to the most northern corner of said Section 3; thence along the south-eastern boundary of Section 3363, the southern and eastern boundaries of Section 5, and the southern boundary of Section 4, to its south-eastern corner; thence due south to a point 1000 links from the southern side of the Haupiri-Kopara Road; thence generally in an easterly direction by a line 1000 links from and parallel to the southern side of the Haupiri-Kopara Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 26, Block V, Haupiri Survey District; thence north-easterly to the south-western corner of said Section 26, and along its southern boundary to its south-eastern corner; thence south-easterly along a right line to the south-western corner of Section 2578, along the southern and eastern boundaries of that section and the southern boundary of Reserve 382 to the eastern boundary of Block V, Haupiri Survey District; thence southwards along the eastern boundary of said Block V for 4000 links; thence due west for 30500 links; thence
