Variation of Order in Council prohibiting Alienation
of Native Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day
of June, 1940.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to section one hundred and sixty-seven
of the Native Land Act, 1931, His Excellency
the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby vary
an Order in Council made on the fourth day of April,
one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and
published in the Gazette on the seventh day of April,
one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, at page 735,
and affecting Hauturu East B 2, Section 2A 1A, and
other blocks, by excluding therefrom the land described
in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land containing 311 acres 2 roods
29 perches, situated in the Orahiri Survey District,
being the Pukeroa-Hangatiki 2c 1c 2c Block (now
known as Pukeroa-Hangatiki A 20.)

Varying the Determinations in respect of the Hastings
Borough Council’s Loans of £22,900 and £19,800.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of
June, 1940.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the
twentieth day of March, one thousand nine
hundred and forty, and subject to the determinations
as to borrowing and repayment therein set out, consent
was given to the raising in New Zealand by the
Hastings Borough Council (hereinafter called “the said
local authority”) of the sums of twenty-two thousand
nine hundred pounds (£22,900) and nineteen thousand
eight hundred pounds (£19,800) by loans, to be known
as “Duplication of Water Mains Loan, 1939,” and
“Water and Drainage, &c., Loan, 1939,” respectively :
And whereas the authority conferred by the said
Order in Council has not been exercised :
And whereas it is expedient to authorize the said
local authority to raise the said loans of twenty-two
thousand nine hundred pounds (£22,900) and nineteen
thousand eight hundred pounds (£19,800) respectively
as one sum of forty-two thousand seven hundred pounds
(£42,700) (hereinafter called “the said sum”), and to
vary the determinations aforesaid in respect of the
said sum :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities conferred on him by section
eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926,
as set out in section twenty-nine of the Finance Act,
1932 (No. 2), and of all other powers and authorities
enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby vary certain
of the determinations aforesaid in respect of the said
sum by prescribing as follows :—
(1) In lieu of the term of thirty (30) years
specified in clause one of the said Order in Council
the term shall be twenty-five (25) years.
(2) In lieu of repayment specified in clause three
of the said Order in Council the said sum shall be
repaid as follows :—
(a) By fifty equal payments of one thousand two
hundred and twenty-eight pounds seven
shillings and ten pence (£1,228 7s. 10d.) one
of such payments to be made at the end of
every half-year commencing from the date on
which the said sum is borrowed. Each such
half-yearly payment shall be applied firstly
in payment of interest computed at the rate
of four pounds (£4) per centum per annum
on the amount of the principal for the time
being outstanding at the beginning of each
such half-year, and the balance of such half-
yearly payment in reduction of principal.
(b) By a payment at the end of the twenty-fifth
year from the date of the borrowing of the
said sum of a sum equal to the amount to
which the said principal has been reduced in
accordance with the preceding paragraph (a)
hereof after payment of the aforesaid fifty
(50) half-yearly payments.

Regulations under the Naval Defence Act, 1913, amended.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of June, 1940.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on
him by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913, and of all
other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency
the Governor-General, with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby
amend and supplement the regulations referred to in the Schedule hereto
as shown therein.

Appendix III.—Subject to the provisions of Article 130 of these
regulations and Navy Order 221, the following shall be the daily rates of pay
