A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section twelve of the Land Act, 1924, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim as closed the portions of streets in the Borough of Hamilton described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the pieces of streets closed: 2 acres 0 roods 6·1 perches.

Adjoining Allotments 157, 158, 214, 215, and 412, Town of Hamilton East.

Situated in Block II, Hamilton Survey District (Borough of Hamilton) (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 29728.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 103843, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 20th day of June, 1940.

Change of Name of Locality “Pembroke” to “Wanaka.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS settlers in the locality known as “Pembroke,” in the County of Lake, desire that the name of such locality should be changed to “Wanaka,” and it is considered expedient to alter the same:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Designation of Districts Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the name of the locality known as “Pembroke,” in the County of Lake, shall be and the same is hereby altered to “Wanaka,” and do assign the last-mentioned name to such locality accordingly; and also do hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and forty, not being earlier than six months after the first publication thereof in the Gazette.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 28th day of February, 1940.

Land reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Scenery Preservation Board, constituted pursuant to the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), has recommended that the land described in the Schedule hereto should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be a scenic reserve under the said Act, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in Tauranga County, containing by admeasurement 404 acres, more or less, and being part Section 28, Block V, Maketu Survey District, bounded: Commencing at the north-eastern corner of Otawa No. 1A Block, towards the north-west by Otawa No. 2 No. 2A, No. 2 No. 2B, No. 2 No. 2C, No. 2 No. 2D, and No. 2 No. 2E Blocks; towards the east generally by Sections 18, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 15, all of Block I, Maketu Survey District, and the Otawa or Waitaha No. 1B Section I Block; towards the south generally by another part of Section 28, Block V, Maketu Survey District; thence towards the west by the Otawa No. 1A Block aforementioned, to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/9, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. (Auckland plan S.O. 30028, blue.)

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 21st day of June, 1940.

Resuming Land in Canterbury Land District for Settlement Purposes.

[L.S.] GALWAY, Governor-General.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section four of the Land for Settlements Amendment Act, 1927, it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor-General may, by Proclamation, resume possession of the whole or any portion of any Crown land held under lease or license (whether such land is ordinary Crown land, settlement land, or national-endowment land) for any of the purposes specified in section twelve of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is held under lease in perpetuity from his Majesty the King:

And whereas the Dominion Land Purchase Board has recommended that the land described in the Schedule hereto be resumed for the aforesaid purposes:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section four of the Land for Settlements Amendment Act, 1927, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that I hereby resume possession as from the thirty-first day of August, one thousand nine hundred and forty, of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto for the purposes hereinbefore mentioned, the said land to form part of the Valetta Settlement.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District containing 640 acres, more or less, being R.S. 36312, situated in Blocks V and IX, Westerfield Survey District, and being all the land comprised and described in Lease in Perpetuity No. 217, registered in Vol. 161, folio 96, Canterbury Land Registry.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 21st day of June, 1940.
