Commissioner of the Supreme Court appointed.

NOTICE.

SIMON BURNS, Esquire, of 32 Gresham Street, London, E.C. 2, England, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Judicature in England, has this day been appointed by the Right Honourable Sir Michael Myers, G.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in England under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

John Duncan Kerr,

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Court at Otorohanga for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, on and from the 10th day of June, 1940.

Constable Charles Henry Maisey,

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Court at Cambridge for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928; and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates’ Court at Cambridge for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, on and from the 1st day of June, 1940.

Guy Wilmot-Buxton,

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Stock Act, 1908; an Inspector for the purposes of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928; and an Inspector for the purposes of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, on and from the 1st day of June, 1940.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VI, Tauhara Survey District, for a Pumice-pit.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a pumice-pit—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Waitahanui and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 4 acres 2 roods 1 perch.

Being portion of Tauhara Middle 4A No. 1B.

Situated in Block VI, Tauhara Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 28914.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 95822, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 10th day of June, 1940.

Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1940.

IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1940, the Minister of Transport does hereby approve, until further notice, of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.
