PURSUANT to the powers conferred on me by the Cinematograph Films Act, 1928, as amended by section 18 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1936, and the Cinematograph Operators Licensing Regulations 1938, I, William Edward Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby appoint—

William Burton, Esquire, representing the New Zealand Motion Picture Exhibitors Association, to be a member of the Cinematograph Film Operators Licensing Board, vice Herbert Francis Lamb, Esquire, resigned.

Appointments in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) and the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand).

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand) and the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand) :—

Lieutenant-Commander Andrew Douglas Holden, Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand), appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for H.M.S. “Wakakura” in command, and as Officer Instructor to the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve in continuation of former appointment, and as Senior Officer, New Zealand Mine-sweeping Flotilla, to date 4th March, 1940.

Lieutenant Ernest Walter Garner, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), appointed to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional, for duty at Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Headquarters, Auckland, vice Newell, to date 8th April, 1940, and as Accountant Officer, Auckland Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, vice Horner, to date 8th April, 1940.

Major H. E. Snelling, B.D.S. (N.Z.), N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Director of Dental Services, Southern Military District, and is appointed Assistant Director of Dental Services (Army and Air Force), Wellington. Dated 2nd March, 1940.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

Captain (temporary Major) R. E. Murray, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), to be Major, and retains the appointment of Publicity Officer, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 1st January, 1940.

Lieutenant S. G. Bowron is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 1st February, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant G. F. Vance, Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is appointed Officer Commanding, National Reserve Guards, Wellington. Dated 2nd September, 1939.

Captain O. E. L. Rout, B.D.S. (N.Z.), is granted the acting rank of Major. Dated 1st March, 1940.

Lieutenant (temporary Captain) J. A. S. Mackenzie to be Captain and is granted the acting rank of Major. Dated 1st March, 1940.

Lieutenant (temporary Captain) G. McCallum, B.D.S. (N.Z.), to be Captain, and is granted the acting rank of Major. Dated 1st March, 1940.

Wilfrid Preston Skegg, B.D.S. (N.Z.), to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Ngaruawahia Military Camp. Dated 22nd January, 1940.

John Godwin Brown, B.D.S. (N.Z.), to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Papakura Military Camp. Dated 22nd January, 1940.

Robert Cecil Shaw-Thompson to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Trentham Military Camp. Dated 29th January, 1940.

Lieutenant R. C. Shaw-Thompson relinquishes the appointment of Dental Officer, Trentham Military Camp, and is appointed Dental Officer, Maori Battalion Camp, Palmerston North. Dated 7th February, 1940.

Hinton Cyril Colson, B.D.S. (N.Z.), to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Papakura Military Camp. Dated 8th February, 1940.

Bruce Morton Dallas to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Trentham Military Camp. Dated 29th January, 1940.

Frederick Robert Brebner, B.D.S. (N.Z.), to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Trentham Military Camp. Dated 12th February, 1940.

Lieutenant F. R. Brobner, B.D.S. (N.Z.), relinquishes the appointment of Dental Officer, Trentham Military Camp, and is appointed Dental Officer, Maori Battalion Camp, Palmerston North. Dated 27th February, 1940.

Hugh Gribben Lynch, B.D.S. (N.Z.), to be Lieutenant, N.Z. Dental Corps, and is appointed Dental Officer, Trentham Military Camp. Dated 17th February, 1940.
