Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Military Forces.

THIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers
of the New Zealand Military Forces :—

STAFF.

Colonel C. G. Powles, C.M.G., D.S.O., Retired List, is
appointed to the Active List, N.Z. Staff Corps, and is
appointed Camp Commandant, Waiouru Military Camp,
with pay and allowances of a Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated
6th November, 1940.
Lieutenant-Colonel R. C. Wickens, D.S.O., V.D., N.Z.
Temporary Staff, relinquishes the appointment of Camp
Commandant, Military Camp, Addington, and is
appointed Officer Commanding, Composite Battalion,
Territorial Force, Burnham Camp. Dated 26th September,
1940.
Captain (temp. Major) J. G. C. Wales, M.C., N.Z. Staff
Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Officer Commanding,
No. 1 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp,
Papakura, and is appointed Commandant, Northern
Military District School of Instruction, Narrow Neck.
Dated 17th September, 1940.
Major T. A. H. Oliphant, M.C., N.Z. Temporary Staff,
relinquishes the appointment of Camp Commandant,
Mobilization Camp, Ngaruawahia, and is appointed
Officer Commanding, No. 1 Training Battalion, Mobilization
Camp, Papakura. Dated 18th September, 1940.
Captain G. H. Macan, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the
appointment of Adjutant, 3rd Composite Company,
N.Z. Army Service Corps, and retains the appointment
of District Supply Officer, Southern Military District.
Dated 16th September, 1940.
Captain P. A. Bergman, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of District Transport Officer, Southern
Military District, and is appointed Adjutant, 3rd Composite
Company, N.Z. Army Service Corps. Dated 16th
September, 1940.
Captain F. McIntosh, M.C., N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes
the appointment of Acting Commandant, Southern
Military District School of Instruction, Burnham, and
is appointed Chief Instructor, Southern Military District
School of Instruction (Addington Wing). Dated 5th
October, 1940.
Lieutenant L. A. Kermode, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes
the appointment of Adjutant, No. 1 Training Battalion,
Mobilization Camp, Burnham, and is appointed Assistant
Infantry Training Instructor, Mobilization Camp,
Burnham. Dated 14th September, 1940.
Lieutenant W. B. Fitchett, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of Second in Command, National
Military Reserve Guards, Wellington, and is attached
to the Instructional Staff, Mobilization Camp, Trentham.
Dated 16th September, 1940.
Captain S. Mellows, M.B.E., N.Z. Temporary Staff, ceases
to be attached to the staff of the Supply and Transport
Branch, Army Headquarters, Wellington, and is
appointed Supply and Transport Officer, Waiouru
Military Camp. Dated 18th October, 1940.
Major R. W. Haddow, D.C.M., N.Z. Temporary Staff,
relinquishes the appointment of Quartermaster, Mobilization
Camp, Trentham, and is appointed Quartermaster,
Waiouru Military Camp. Dated 21st October, 1940.
Captain L. R. Neilson, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the
appointment of Assistant Quartermaster, Mobilization
Camp, Trentham, and is appointed Quartermaster,
Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 21st October,
1940.
Captain (temp. Major) J. M. Reidy, N.Z. Staff Corps,
relinquishes the appointment of Commandant, Central
Military District School of Instruction, Wellington, and
is appointed Commandant, Central Military District
School of Instruction, Tauherenikau. Dated 19th
October, 1940.
Captain W. G. Bassett, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of Commandant, Central Military
District School of Instruction, Tauherenikau, and is
attached to the Camp Instructional Staff, Mobilization
Camp, Trentham. Dated 14th October, 1940.
Lieutenant A. P. F. Neesham, N.Z. Temporary Staff,
relinquishes the appointment of Company Commander,
Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, and
is appointed Assistant Quartermaster, Mobilization Camp,
Ngaruawahia. Dated 16th October, 1940.

Captain K. B. McKenzie-Muirson, M.C., N.Z. Temporary
Staff, relinquishes the appointment of Company Commander,
No. 2 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp,
Trentham, and is attached to the Central Military District
School of Instruction, Wellington. Dated 9th September,
1940.
Captain K. B. McKenzie-Muirson, M.C., N.Z. Temporary
Staff, ceases to be attached to, and is appointed Commandant,
Central Military District School of Instruction,
Wellington. Dated 19th October, 1940.
Captain G. F. Yerex, N.Z. Staff Corps, ceases to be attached
to the General Staff Branch, Army Headquarters, Wellington,
and is appointed Adjutant, Waiouru Military
Camp. Dated 4th November, 1940.
Captain E. J. Browning, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of District Supply and Transport Officer,
Northern Military District, and is appointed District
Supply Officer, Northern Military District. Dated 1st
October, 1940.
Lieutenant T. Bassett, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of Assistant District Transport Officer,
Northern Military District, and is appointed District
Transport Officer, Northern Military District. Dated 1st
October, 1940.
2nd Lieutenant (acting Captain) D. O. Williams, N.Z.
Temporary Staff, ceases to be attached to the AdjutantGeneral’s
Branch and is appointed General Staff Officer,
3rd Grade (Intelligence), Army Headquarters. Dated
27th September, 1940.
Lieutenant A. M. Jordan, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the
appointments of Adjutant, The Auckland (East Coast)
Mounted Rifles, and Assistant Area Officer, No. 2 Area,
Paeroa, and is appointed General Staff Officer, 3rd Grade
(Training, Territorial Force), Army Headquarters,
Wellington. Dated 17th October, 1940.
Captain and Quartermaster (temp.) J. W. Evers, N.Z.
Army Ordnance Corps, relinquishes the appointment of
Assistant to the Chief Ordnance Mechanical Engineer, is
appointed Ordnance Mechanical Engineer, vice Lieutenant
F. D. McWha, N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps,
seconded to the 2nd N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and
retains the temporary rank of Captain and Quartermaster
while so employed. Dated 18th October, 1940.
Lieutenant N. C. Shepherd, N.Z. Temporary Staff, relinquishes
the appointment of Adjutant, Training Battalion,
Mobilization Camp, Papakura, and is attached to the
Camp Instructional Staff, Mobilization Camp, Ngaruawahia.
Dated 24th September, 1940.
Lieutenant N. C. Shepherd, N.Z. Temporary Staff, ceases
to be attached to the Camp Instructional Staff, Mobilization
Camp, Ngaruawahia, and is appointed Adjutant,
Mobilization Camp, Ngaruawahia. Dated 11th October,
1940.

N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS.

The undermentioned Staff Cadet, on graduation from the
Royal Military College of Australia, to be Lieutenant, on
probation for twelve months. Dated 17th August, 1940:

Ronald Glanville Anson Farnell.

Lieutenant R. G. A. Farnell is posted to the Main Ordnance
Depot, Trentham. Dated 10th October, 1940.

N.Z. ARMY PAY CORPS.

Honorary Lieutenant H. Mulholland is transferred to the
N.Z. Temporary Staff. Dated 9th July, 1940.

N.Z. TEMPORARY STAFF.

The undermentioned relinquish their appointments in the
N.Z. Temporary Staff on being seconded to the 2nd New
Zealand Expeditionary Force :—
