The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 137, dated 9th November, 1939, relative to the appointment of Major G. W. Massingham, M.C., Reserve of Officers, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own), is hereby cancelled and the following substituted :-

“ Major G. W. Massingham, M.C., Reserve of Officers, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own), to be Major, with pay and allowances of a Captain, and is appointed Assistant Area Officer, No. 5 Area, Wellington. Dated 1st September, 1939.”

Major (temp.) R. A. Bradshaw-Smith, B.Sc., Lond., A.M.I.C.E., 1st Field Company, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, is appointed Staff Officer, Engineers (Training), Army Headquarters, Wellington, and retains the temporary rank of Major while so employed. Dated 5th November, 1940.

Captain C. V. Bigg-Wither, Retired List, to be Captain, and is appointed Company Commander, 3rd Company (Whangaroa), National Military Reserve. Dated 29th June, 1940.

Captain C. Woods, Retired List, to be Captain, and is appointed Quartermaster, Artillery Training Regiment, Mobilization Camp, Papakura. Dated 1st July, 1940.

Captain J. R. Elsbury relinquishes the appointment of Company Commander, Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List. Dated 28th October, 1940.

Captain P. E. Salmon, Retired List, to be Captain, and is appointed Assistant Supply and Transport Officer, Army Headquarters, Wellington. Dated 14th October, 1940.

Honorary Lieutenant H. Mulholland, from the N.Z. Army Pay Corps, to be Lieutenant, and is attached to Army Headquarters, Wellington, for mobilization duties. Dated 9th July, 1940.

Lieutenant H. K. Hatrick, Retired List, to be Lieutenant, and is appointed Company Commander, 2nd Company (Russell), National Military Reserve. Dated 26th July, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant W. F. Dudson, Retired List, to be Lieutenant, and is appointed Company Commander, No. 2 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 16th September, 1940.

Rowland Dickinson (late Canadian and British Expeditionary Forces), to be Lieutenant, and is appointed Company Commander, No. 2 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 16th September, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant R. L. Forrest, Reserve of Officers, The Wellington West Coast Regiment, to be Lieutenant, and is appointed Adjutant, No. 1 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 23rd September, 1940.

Gavin George Wallace (late British Expeditionary Force), to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is appointed Company Commander, No. 2 Training Battalion, Mobilization Camp, Trentham. Dated 16th September, 1940.

Robert Cecil Guthrie Moore to be Lieutenant and is appointed Supply Officer, Waiouru Military Camp. Dated 1st October, 1940.

Captain E. G. Thompson, B.D.S., N.Z. Dental Corps, ceases to be attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, Wigram, and is attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, Rongotai. Dated 4th November, 1940.

Lieutenant W. R. Hamilton, B.D.S., N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Papakura, and is attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, Rongotai. Dated 4th November, 1940.

Lieutenant L. N. McIlroy, N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes the appointment of Dental Officer, Mobilization Camp, Trentham, and is attached to the Royal N.Z. Air Force Station, Ohakea. Dated 5th November, 1940.

Lieutenant A. C. Cooke to be Captain. Dated 13th November, 1940.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 18, dated 7th March, 1940, relative to the appointment of 2nd Lieutenant D. O. Williams, Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, is hereby cancelled and the following substituted :-

“2nd Lieutenant D. O. Williams, Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, is attached to the Adjutant-General’s Branch, Army Headquarters, Wellington, and is granted the acting rank of Captain, Dated 12th February, 1940.”

Lieutenant A. Farrar, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant with seniority from 1st August, 1940. Dated 26th October, 1940.

THE AUCKLAND (EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant W. Greenall to be Captain. Dated 11th October, 1940.

Lieutenant N. S. Reid is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 12th October, 1940.

2nd Lieutenant P. B. Mulhern is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 11th October, 1940.

Lieutenant (temp.) H. N. Waddington is transferred to the Waikato Mounted Rifles. Dated 29th October, 1940.
