IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section six of the Native Purposes Act, 1938, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

Mr. Samuel Hewitt appointed Temporary Lieutenant, Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand), and to H.M.S. “Philomel” additional for Navy Office to date 22nd October, 1940, and as Merchant Shipping Officer vice Cornelius (date to be reported).

Paymaster Sub-Lieutenant Vivian Robert Knight, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), promoted to Paymaster Lieutenant, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (New Zealand), with seniority of 21st August, 1940.
