The Charcoal Manufacture and Sale Notice 1940.

PURSUANT to the Supply Control Emergency Regulations 1939 and the Timber Emergency Regulations 1939, I, Daniel Giles Sullivan, Minister of Supply, hereby give public notice as follows :-

  1. This notice may be cited as the Charcoal Manufacture and Sale Notice 1940.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day following publication hereof in the Gazette.

  3. No person shall engage in the manufacture of charcoal for sale except pursuant to a license in that behalf issued by the Timber Controller.

  4. Any license issued under this notice may be subject to such conditions, restrictions, and stipulations as the Timber Controller may think fit to insert therein.

  5. The Timber Controller may, in his absolute discretion, grant or refuse to grant any license, and may at any time by notice in writing signed by him and served upon the licensee suspend or revoke any license or vary or add to any conditions, restrictions, or stipulations contained therein.

  6. The Timber Controller may from time to time by notice published in the Gazette fix prices at which charcoal is at any time to be sold or offered for sale in any locality specified in the notice

  7. The Timber Controller may at any time by like notice published in the Gazette suspend, revoke, or vary the terms of any notice published under the last preceding clause hereof.

Notice of Intention to take Land for a Recreation-ground in Block XIV, Rotoiti Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for a recreation-ground : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Rotorua and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Milton) Order 1940.

PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations 1940, and pursuant to a requisition in writing received in that behalf, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows :-

  1. This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Milton) Order 1940.

  2. This Order shall come into force on the 21st day of October, 1940.

  3. This Order shall apply to all establishments engaged in the sale by retail of oil fuel and situate within the Borough of Milton.

  4. On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments except as hereinafter provided shall on every Sunday be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 10 a.m. till noon and from 4 p.m. till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on every Sunday, and on every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday shall be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 8 a.m till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days, and on every Friday shall be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m. and closed at all other times on every Friday.

  5. In alternate weeks as hereinafter set out, commencing upon the coming into force of this Order, the establishments hereinafter named shall be exempt from the operation of this Order.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments.- Fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers' Shops within the Combined District of Nelson.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of grocers' shops within the combined district of Nelson, comprising the City of Nelson and the Town District of Tahunanui, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22 :

And whereas I am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said combined district :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 28th day of October, 1940, all the said shops within the said combined district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m.

The notice gazetted on the 1st December, 1938, fixing the closing-hours of grocers' shops within the combined district of Nelson shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into force of this notice.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Shirley Extension No. 19, affecting parts of Rural Sections 557 and 231, situated in Block XII, Christchurch Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Achilles Street, Ajax Street, and Rowe Place shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft. :

Now, therefore, I, Frank Langstone, Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of Achilles Street and Ajax Street of a width not less than 50 ft. and Rowe Place of a width not less than 40 ft. : Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such roads.
