Declaring a Bobby Calf Marketing Pool Area.
PURSUANT to the Bobby Calf Marketing Regulations 1939, I, Walter Nash, Minister of Marketing, being satisfied that a sufficient majority of the producers in the area of land defined in the Schedule hereto are desirous that such area should be declared to be a pool area for the marketing of bobby calves, do hereby declare such area of land, defined as aforesaid, to be a Bobby Calf Marketing Pool Area for the purposes of the said regulations under the name set out in the said Schedule, and I do hereby declare that this notice shall take effect on the 3rd day of October, 1940.
SCHEDULE.
KOKATAHI-KOITERANGI-ARAHURA BOBBY CALF MARKETING POOL AREA.
ALL that area of land situated within the Westland County and bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Waimea Creek; thence following the sea-coast in a southerly direction to the point where it meets the north bank of the Totara River; thence taking a straight line across country to Mount McWhirter on the boundary between Westland and Selwyn Counties; thence following the Westland County boundary in a north-easterly direction to a point where it meets Harman Pass; thence taking a straight line across country in a north-westerly direction to the mouth of the Waimea Creek, being the original point of commencement.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Te Awamutu Electric-power Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

TE AWAMUTU ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.
PURSUANT to section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Pirongia-Kawhia Special-rating Area taken on the 5th day of September, 1940, on the proposal of the Te Awamutu Electric-power Board to borrow the sum of £28,000 for constructing and erecting transmission-lines, transformer-stations, and all fittings and appliances for conveying, transmitting, or distributing electricity, including the purchase of all necessary land, buildings, material, plant, and tools, and all payments for labour, engineer’s services, plans, and supervision and for compensation to owners of property and for the purchase of motors, electric wires, lamps, fittings, machinery, and equipment, and installing the same on or in public or private land or buildings in the Pirongia-Kawhia Special-rating Area.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 87
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

The Tobacco-growing Industry Act, 1935.—Members of Tobacco Board appointed.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to reappoint, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities of section 3 of the Tobacco-growing Industry Act, 1935 :—
Arthur Frank Bell as a representative of manufacturers, and
Nolan Rowling as a representative of growers,
both of whom retired at 31st July, 1940, in pursuance of section 4 of the above Act, and to appoint :—
Cedric Malcolm Paynter as a representative of manufacturers, and
Martin Henry Thorn as a representative of growers,
in place of Arthur Howard Spratt and Hugh Arnold Thorn who also retired at the 31st July, 1940, in pursuance of section 4 of the above Act.

Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Timaru) Order 1940.
PURSUANT to the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulations 1940, and pursuant to a requisition in writing received in that behalf, I, David Gervan McMillan, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct as follows :—

This Order may be cited as the Oil Fuel Retail Hours (Timaru) Order 1940.

This Order shall come into force on the 14th day of October, 1940.

This Order shall apply to all establishments engaged in the sale by retail of oil fuel and situate within seven miles of the Chief Post-office in the Borough of Timaru.

On and after the coming into force of this Order all such establishments except as hereinafter provided shall be closed for the sale of oil fuel for the whole of every Sunday and shall, in the case of the establishments within the Borough of Timaru, on every Friday, and in the case of the other establishments on every Saturday, be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 7.30 a.m. till 9 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days, and on every other day of the week all such establishments shall be opened for the sale of oil fuel from 7.30 a.m. till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on the said respective days.

In every successive week commencing upon the coming into force of this Order two of the establishments hereinafter named shall in the weekly rotation hereinafter set out be opened on Sunday for the sale of oil fuel from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. and closed at all other times on Sunday.

Seventh week .. Dunnett’s Ltd.; Reliance Service Station (R. A. Wilkie, Proprietor).
Eighth week .. Maori Hill Service Station (P. D. Laurie, Proprietor); Ben Watson and Co., Ltd.
- Nothing in this Order shall affect the establishment operated by Timaru Gold Band Taxis, Ltd.

Fixing the Rates of the Levy on all Wool produced in New Zealand.—(Notice No. Ag. 3773.)
PURSUANT to the powers vested in me by section 10 (2) of the Wool Industry Promotion Act, 1936, I, William Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, hereby fix the rates following, that is to say,—
(a) For each bale, sixpence ;
(b) For each fadge, threepence ; and
(c) For each bag or sack, one penny ;
to be the rates of the levy to be charged on all wool produced in New Zealand which at any time during the season commencing on the 1st day of October, 1940, is exported from New Zealand or is delivered to a wool-manufacturer for use in New Zealand.
