Approval of Safety Glass in terms of the Traffic Regulations 1936, Amendment No. 1.
IN terms of regulation 10 of the Traffic Regulations 1936, as amended by regulation 6 of the Traffic Regulations 1936, Amendment No. 1, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby approve as being of safety type the glass of the kind or make described in the Schedule hereto.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block I, Maungaku Survey District, for the Purposes of a Quarry.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a quarry. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kakahi and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing within forty days from the publication of this notice to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 23 acres 1 rood 36 perches.
Being portion of Puketapu 3B No. 7 Block.
Situated in Block I, Maungaku Survey District (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 30198.)
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 103403, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.

Notice respecting proposed Alteration of Boundaries.—City of Christchurch.
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 29th August, 1939.
IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be excluded from the County of Heathcote and included in the City of Christchurch. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration of boundaries which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM COUNTY OF HEATHCOTE AND INCLUDED IN THE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded on the west by the eastern side of Kerr’s Road from the south-western corner of Lot 18, on Deposited Plan 8339, to Wainoni Road; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern side of Wainoni Road to the northernmost corner of Lot 1, on Deposited Plan 8339; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, on Deposited Plan 8339 aforesaid, and the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 19, 21, and 23, on Deposited Plan 9438, to the easternmost corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of Lots 24, 25, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, and 44, on Deposited Plan 9438, to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence westerly along the southern boundaries of Lots 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, and 53, on Deposited Plan 9438, and the southern boundary of Lot 18, on Deposited Plan 8339 aforesaid, to the south-western corner of the said Lot 18, the place of commencement.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments.—Fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Clothiers’ and (2) Drapers’ Shops within the Borough of Huntly.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) clothier, and (2) draper, within the Borough of Huntly, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m.: Provided that when Friday is generally observed as a holiday any shop affected by this notice which is closed for the whole of such day may remain open until 9 p.m. on the Thursday immediately preceding such day:
And whereas I, Frederick Jones, acting for the Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of September, 1939, all the shops in each of the trades of (1) clothier, and (2) draper, within the Borough of Huntly, shall be closed accordingly.

The Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments.—Prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Huntly of certain Goods comprised in the Trades of (1) Clothier, and (2) Draper.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) clothier, and (2) draper, within the Borough of Huntly, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trades of clothier and draper—namely, hats, coats, dresses, furs, underskirts, all classes of ladies’ and children’s underwear, corsets, sheetings, damasks, forfar, linen, towels, shirtings, flannels, flannelettes, linen tray-cloths, all classes of dress materials, crepe de chine, voiles, serges, repps, silks, satins, linings, sateens, cottons, tapes, sewing-silks, laces, hooks and eyes, domes, elastic, needles, pins, handkerchiefs, and all fancy goods, gloves, hosiery, caps, ties, sox, underwear, suits, collars and shirts—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its amendments:
And whereas I am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trades within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I, Frederick Jones, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 18th day of September, 1939, the sale of the said goods within the Borough of Huntly shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows:—
On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays after the hour of 9 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 1 p.m.: Provided that when Friday is generally observed as a holiday the sale of the said goods shall not be prohibited on the Thursday immediately preceding such day until after the hour of 9 p.m.
