The Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendments.—
Fixing the Closing-hours of Grocers’ Shops within the Borough
of Cromwell.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all grocers’ shops within the
Borough of Cromwell, has been forwarded to me desiring
that all such shops within the said borough be closed in
the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the
observance of the statutory closing-day required by section 14
of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 5.15 p.m., and on
Fridays at 8 p.m.:
And whereas I, Frederick Jones, acting for the Minister
of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition
represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops
within the said borough:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops
and Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after
the 18th day of September, 1939, all the grocers’ shops within
the Borough of Cromwell shall be closed on Mondays, Tues-
days, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.15 p.m., and on
Fridays at 8 p.m.

Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.
Retail Sale of Motor-spirit.
NOTICE is hereby given that applications have been
received from—
(1) M. J. Dobbing for permission to move two petrol
pumps to a section adjoining present premises, so
as to form a drive-through service station.
(2) C. H. Smith for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit
from one petrol pump to be installed at his store
at Owhango.
(3) The Car Mart for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit
from pumps to be installed at a proposed parking
and servicing station at the corner of York and
Taranaki Streets, Wellington.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected
by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications,
and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must
furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the
undersigned not later than the 14th September, 1939. All
representations must set out clearly the grounds for same,
and include a statement showing the gallonage throughput
of petrol sold, and the nature of the business conducted by
the person making the representations.

Pharmacy Industry.
I HEREBY give notice that an application has been
received from R. C. Brien for permission to move the
site of his pharmacy from 221 Cuba Street, to the Wakefield
Hotel Buildings, 151 Cuba Street, Wellington.
Any person who considers he will be materially affected
by the decision of the Bureau in respect of this application
and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must
furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the
undersigned not later than the 1st September, 1939. All
representations must set out clearly the grounds for same
and should include financial statements.
