The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1939.—Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union and Cancellation of Award.

WHEREAS in respect of a discontinuance of employment by members of the Otahuhu Chemical Manure Workers' Industrial Union of Workers, I am satisfied that such discontinuance has caused or is likely to cause serious loss or inconvenience and that it has been brought about wholly or partly by such members:

Now, therefore, I, Patrick Charles Webb, Minister of Labour, do hereby give notice that in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 2 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1939, I do hereby cancel the registration of the Otahuhu Chemical Manure Workers' Industrial Union of Workers, registered number 1288, as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

Note.—In pursuance of subsection (4) of section 2 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1939, the Northern Industrial District Chemical Manure Workers' award, dated the 17th day of October, 1938, and published in Book of Awards, Volume XXXVIII, page 2936, is deemed to be cancelled upon the cancellation of the registration of the industrial union named in the above notice.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Roads of Less Width than 66 ft.

WHEREAS in the opinion of the Minister of Lands it is inexpedient, by reason of the fact that the land shown upon the plan of Town of Paraparaumu Extension No. 9, affecting part Lot 9 on D.P. 6179, being portion of Muaupoko Block Registration District, Block III, Kapiti Survey District, is intended to be used wholly for residential purposes, that Waimarie Avenue shown thereon should be of the width of 66 ft.:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee Martin, acting for the Minister of Lands, do hereby, in pursuance of the power conferred upon me by section 17, subsection (1), of the Land Act, 1924, and of every other power me thereunto enabling, authorize the laying-off of Waimarie Avenue of a width of not less than 40 ft.: Provided always that it shall not be lawful for any person to erect or cause to be erected any building at a less distance than 33 ft. from the middle of such road.

Land Surveyors' Examination, September, 1939, Australia and New Zealand.

The Survey Board of New Zealand,
Wellington, 17th July, 1939.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors' Board will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 4th September, at Wellington.

Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 21st August, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.

Candidates sitting under Rule VIII (1) will be accepted at this examination, and, with candidates completing former sittings, may sit in other centres where there is a Chief Surveyor's office.

Examination in all subjects, fee of £5 5s. New candidates for the full examination will sit in Wellington.

Note.—Rule VIII (1) allows student to sit for subjects 1 to 4, inclusive, on completion of two years in articles, and for such candidates a fee of £2 2s. is payable.

Breaches of the Customs Acts.

Customs Department, Wellington, 14th July, 1939.

IN accordance with the provisions of section 244 of the Customs Act, 1913, it is hereby notified for public information that the firm of the Pacific Trading Company and the firm of Eastern and General Agencies having on the 10th day of July, 1939, admitted in writing that they had from time to time prior to that date committed offences against the Customs Acts, the Minister of Customs has accepted from the said firms in full satisfaction of the penalties thereby incurred the sum of twelve hundred pounds (£1,200).

Election of Member of the Wellington Land Board.
