preparation of the mortgage, £4 5s. must be paid immediately
an application is declared successful. The balance of the
weighting, £600, will be repayable by half-yearly instalments
over a period of thirty-six years and a half with interest at
5 per cent. per annum.
This property, which is suitable for mixed farming, is
situated on the Kakahi Road, six miles from Roto Post-
office and School, eight miles and a half from Tokirima
Railway-station and eight miles from the Ohura Saleyards.
Cream is collected to within half a mile of the section. Access
is by metalled road. Soil is light to fairly good loam on clay
and sandstone; watered by springs and creeks. Approxi-
mately 100 acres ploughable, the remainder being undulating
to hilly and broken. Approximately 595 acres in good
pasture, 90 acres in fair to rough feed, and 9 acres in shelter-
bush. Subdivided into eight paddocks.
NOTE.—Possession will be given one month after date of
approval of an application. A clearing sale of stock on the

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pro-
perty is open for selection on optional tenures under the
Land Act, 1924 ; and applications will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 12
o’clock noon on Monday, 27th November, 1939.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday,
29th November, 1939, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any appli-
cant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other
Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Applicants are required to produce for inspection when
examined documentary evidence of their financial position,
such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from
managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms,
or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial
assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should
state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply
guarantees of their own financial position.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of
the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant
is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit
comprising the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent, lease
fee, and amount of weighting for improvements.

SECTION 11a, Block V : Area, 27 acres 1 rood 24 perches.
Capital value, £30. Deposit on deferred payments, £10 :
Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, 13s. Renew-
able lease : Half-yearly rent, 12s.
Weighted with £5 (payable in cash) for improvements,
comprising 10 chains road-fencing.
There are also 61 chains of boundary fencing on this pro-
perty and the selector must be prepared to meet a pro-
portionate share of the cost of erecting this fencing as
provided by the Fencing Act, 1908.
This section is situated two miles by metalled road from
Kakahi at the head of a gully, rising to steep and broken hill
faces covered with fern, scrub, and bush. The greater
portion is shady and subject to deterioration. The soil is
a light loam ; watered by a stream.

This property is situated on Boundary Road, three miles
from Palmerston North. It comprises all level land, broken
by a disused metal-pit. The soil is of heavy loam resting
on clay and shingle formation. It would be necessary for
the incoming lessee to arrange for water-supply from an
artesian bore on a neighbouring section. There are no
buildings on the section, which is suitable for a homestead
for a person with regular employment who wishes to supple-
ment his income by market-gardening or by dairying in a
small way.
