Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices
by Telegraph.

Wellington, 13th October, 1938.
IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the
Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed “ the
said Act ”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May,
1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st
May, 1914, the following officers, at the addresses set against
their names, are hereby appointed transmitting and receiving
officers for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph
sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such
certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as
are required or authorized to be signed or given under the
said Act or the regulations aforesaid.

Frederick Stephen Millar
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Noxious Weeds
Act, 1928, for the Mount Roskill Road District, the appointment
to date as from the 18th November, 1938.

NOTICE.
ALEXANDER DAVID HOLLYHOKE, Esquire, of
Geelong, in the State of Victoria, a Solicitor of the
Supreme Court of the State of Victoria, has this day been
appointed by the Right Honourable Sir Michael Myers,
G.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of
the Supreme Court of New Zealand in the State of Victoria
under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the
purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits,
and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

Palmerston North, as from the 10th day of November, 1938.
Owen Riley Maxwell,
to be Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at
Taheke, as from the 8th day of November, 1938.
Andrew Kean,
to be a Ranger for the purposes of the Animals Protection
and Game Act, 1921-22, and an officer for the purposes of
Part II of the Fisheries Act, 1908, to exercise his duties
generally throughout New Zealand, as from the 17th day of
November, 1938.
Jeremiah George Quill,
to be Gaoler of His Majesty’s Prison, Waikune, for the
purposes of section 5 of the Prisons Act, 1908, as from the
1st day of November, 1938.
Sergeant Thomas Freeman Brenchley,
to be Bailiff of the Magistrate’s Court at Marton for the
purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the
9th day of November, 1938.

Notice fixing appointed date under the Government Railways
(Wellington to Johnsonville) Act, 1935.
PURSUANT to the provisions of subsection four of
section three of the Government Railways (Wellington
to Johnsonville) Act, 1935, I, Daniel Giles Sullivan, Minister
of Railways, hereby fix the 14th day of November, 1938, as
the appointed date for the purposes of the said Act.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act,
1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the rate-payers of the Borough of Queenstown, taken on the
16th day of November, 1938, on the proposal of the Queenstown Borough Council to borrow the sum of ten thousand
five hundred pounds for the purpose of installing a drainage
and sewerage scheme within the Borough, to be known as
the “ Drainage and Sewerage Loan, 1938 ” :—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was . . . 97
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 76
Informal . . . 1
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
