HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments, &c., of
officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force:—

REGULAR AIR FORCE.

Confirmation of Rank and Posting,

Acting Pilot Officer L. J. Ransom is confirmed in the rank of
Pilot Officer with effect from 1st September, 1938, and is
posted to the Reserve of Officers, Class A, Section I.
Dated 20th October, 1938.

Appointment and Posting.

Pilot Officer J. R. Cherry, Reserve of Air Force Officers, is
granted a commission in the Royal New Zealand Air Force
with the rank of Pilot Officer, and is posted to the Reserve
of Officers, Class A, Section I. Dated 11th November,
1938.

TERRITORIAL AIR FORCE.

Appointments and Postings.

AUCKLAND TERRITORIAL SQUADRON.

Graham Brook Bell to be Pilot Officer (on probation) and is
posted to the Auckland Territorial Squadron as Engineer
Officer. Dated 15th September, 1938.

Alfred Louis Cadman to be Pilot Officer (on probation) and is
posted to the Auckland Territorial Squadron. Dated
8th November, 1938.

CHRISTCHURCH TERRITORIAL SQUADRON.

Robert Steel Grant to be Pilot Officer (on probation) and is
posted to the Christchurch Territorial Squadron. Dated
27th October, 1938.

UNATTACHED LIST.

George Clifton Lewis to be Pilot Officer (on probation) and is
posted to the Unattached List. Dated 14th November,
1938.

PROMOTION.

Flying Officer J. M. Buckeridge to be Flight Lieutenant on
posting to the Retired List. Dated 14th September, 1938.

Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to approve of the following appointments, promotions,
transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the
New Zealand Military Forces:—

STAFF AND COMMANDS.

The appointment of Colonel F. T. Bowerbank, O.B.E.,
E.D., M.D., F.R.C.P. Edin., Honorary Physician to the
Governor-General, N.Z. Medical Corps, as Director of Medical
Services, is extended to 30th November, 1939.

Captain G. M. McCaskill, N.Z. Staff Corps, relinquishes the
appointment of Adjutant, 2nd Composite Battalion.
Dated 8th November, 1938.

Captain J. W. Barry, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Adjutant,
2nd Composite Battalion, in addition to his present appoint-
ments. Dated 8th November, 1938.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. V. Closey, E.D., The Waikato Regi-
ment, relinquishes command of the Regimental Depot and
the 1st Composite Battalion, and is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 4. Dated 31st
August, 1938.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. S. White, V.D., The North Auckland
Regiment, is seconded to command the 1st Composite
Battalion. Dated 1st September, 1938.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 77, dated 20th October, 1938, relative to
Lieutenant-Colonel A. J. Nicoll, The Canterbury Yeomanry
Cavalry, for “Dated 16th September, 1938” read “Dated
16th September, 1937.”

Major F. C. Soar, E.D., Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes
command of the 21st Field Battery, N.Z.A., is promoted
to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and appointed to com-
mand the 1st Field Brigade, N.Z.A., for a period of two
years. Dated 1st September, 1937.

Major F. C. Rawle, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes
command of the 20th Light Battery and is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 1. Dated 7th
November, 1938.

THE WELLINGTON EAST COAST MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant J. T. Russell, seconded 2nd Composite Mounted
Rifles Regiment, to be Captain. Dated 1st September,
1938.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant R. S. Stacey, 2nd Artillery Brigade Group, is
transferred to the Hawke’s Bay Regiment. Dated 2nd
November, 1938.

The undermentioned Lieutenants are transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, Class I (b). Dated 2nd November,
1938:—

S. H. Dawe, 8th Field Battery, Area 7.
K. A. Maxwell, 19th Medium Battery, Area 4.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) S. A.
Cooper, 2nd Cadet Battalion, is confirmed.

2nd Lieutenant S. A. Cooper, 2nd Cadet Battalion, to be
Lieutenant. Dated 9th November, 1938.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Captain W. J. B. Hunter, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred
to the Taranaki Regiment. Dated 7th November, 1938.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

Francis Patrick Koorey to be 2nd Lieutenant and is posted
to the Regimental Depot. Dated 1st November, 1938.

THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. I. Crafts, Regimental Depot, is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 5. Dated 1st
November, 1938.

Lieutenant R. S. Stacey, from the Regiment of N.Z. Artillery,
to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 18th May, 1924,
and is posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 2nd
November, 1938.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, seconded 2nd
Composite Battalion, to be Lieutenants. Dated 1st Septem-
ber, 1938:—

C. C. Johansen.

Reginald James Hayes Martin to be 2nd Lieutenant (on
probation) and is posted to the 3rd Cadet Battalion. Dated
1st October, 1938.

THE TARANAKI REGIMENT.

Captain W. J. B. Hunter, from the North Auckland Regiment,
to be Captain, with seniority from 1st June, 1934, and is
posted to the 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 7th November,
1938.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Eric Elliott Lloyd (late Major, Australian Military Forces) to
be Captain, with seniority from 2nd February, 1935, and is
posted to the 1st Battalion, supernumerary to establish-
ment. Dated 21st October, 1938.

Henry David Livingstone to be 2nd Lieutenant and is posted
to the 1st Battalion. Dated 29th August, 1938.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend Kenneth Harold Evans to be Chaplain, 4th
Class (Presbyterian), Area No. 3. Dated 25th October,
1938.

The commission granted to the Reverend A. V. Whiting,
Chaplain, 4th Class (Congregational) is cancelled, he having
left the Dominion. Dated 31st October, 1938.

N.Z. DENTAL CORPS.

Lieutenant M. A. Kelly, attached 1st Field Ambulance
resigns his commission. Dated 26th October, 1938.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. S. White, V.D., is transferred to the
Active List of the North Auckland Regiment and seconded
to command the 1st Composite Battalion. Dated 1st
September, 1938.

N.Z. Medical Corps.

Major H. M. Goldstein, M.C., M.B., M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P.
Lond., is posted to the Retired List with permission to
retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated
4th November, 1938.
