LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

THE MINING ACT, 1926.

NOTICE is hereby given that application 33/38 has been
filed in the office of the Mining Registrar, Naseby,
for a license for a water-race by WILLIAM MANN, of Kokonga,
Farmer, and such application and all objections thereto will
be heard at the Warden's Court, Naseby, at 2 p.m. on
Monday, 5th December, 1938.

The race applied for is to traverse Runs 203c and 203a,
Swinburn District, and Sections 3 and 4, Block VIII, Swin-
burn District, and is to carry five heads of water for
irrigation and stock purposes.

Objections must be filed in the Registrar's Office and
notified to applicant at his address for service, care of
Duncan and Jamieson, Solicitors, Ranfurly, at least three
days before the time appointed for hearing.

UPPER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.

SPECIAL RATE HOUSING LOAN No. 1, 1938, £5,000.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1926, the
Upper Hutt Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :-

"That, for the purpose of providing interest and other
charges on a loan of £5,000 authorized to be raised by the
Upper Hutt Borough Council for the purpose of erecting
houses for approved applicants on table mortgage terms
of purchase, the said Upper Hutt Borough Council hereby
makes and levies a special rate of 320/1,000ths of a penny
in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property
within the Borough of Upper Hutt, and that such special
rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency
of the loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April
in each and every year during the currency of the loan until
the loan is fully paid off."

I hereby certify that the above resolution was passed at
a special meeting of the Council held on Monday, 10th
October, 1938, at 7.30 p.m., and confirmed at the ordinary
meeting of the Council held on Thursday, 13th October,
1938.
