Arthur Daly McDell to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 20th June, 1938.
THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.
Captain A. G. Thompson, 1st Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 6. Dated 30th June, 1938.
THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.
Captain M. A. Bull, 6th Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Regiment of N.Z. Artillery. Dated 24th June, 1938.
Carlson Edmonstone Holmes to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), is posted to the 1st Battalion and seconded to Southern Military District Headquarters, for duty as Publicity Officer, and is granted the honorary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 17th March, 1938.
THE OTAGO REGIMENT.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) I. H. Johnston, 1st Cadet Battalion, is confirmed. Dated 24th August, 1937.
THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.
George Allister Murray to be 2nd Lieutenant and is posted to the Regimental Depot. Dated 1st June, 1938.
N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS.
Captain A. Gollan, 2nd Composite Company, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), Area 5. Dated 13th June, 1938.
N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE.

to be a Judge of the Native Land Court of the Cook Islands for the purposes of section 369 of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, as from the 4th day of July, 1938.
James Owen Williams,
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Agricultural Workers' Act, 1936 ; an Inspector for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921-22 ; and an Inspector for the purposes of the Weights and Measures Act, 1925, as from the 1st day of July, 1938.
John Fredrick Dimes,
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Health Act, 1920, and an officer for the purposes of the Sales of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, as from the 15th day of June, 1938.
Arthur Robert Knights,
to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Health Act, 1920, and an officer for the purposes of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, as from the 2nd day of July, 1938.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Kairanga County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Kairanga taken on the 30th day of June, 1938, on the proposal of the Kairanga County Council to borrow the sum of four thousand pounds (£4,000) for the purpose of providing the Council’s share of the cost of bridging, metalling, priming, and sealing of that portion of the Palmerston North-Levin via Shannon Main Highway (No. 60) from the Fitzherbert Bridge to the county boundary at Tokomaru :—

Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.—Joint Special Loan under Part II.
NOTICE is hereby given that each of the local authorities named in the Schedule hereunder (1) has taken all the steps required to be taken under the above-named Act prior to the raising of a special loan of the amount set out opposite the name of such local authority in the said Schedule, and (2) has passed a resolution as required by Part II of the above-named Act for the raising of a joint special loan of the amount of five thousand one hundred pounds (£5,100) in union with all the other said local authorities, and (3) has complied with all other conditions prescribed in the case of a joint special loan by the above-mentioned Act, and (4) has named the Gisborne Borough Council to be the agent of each of the other said local authorities for the purposes of the joint special loan and to be the principal local authority as defined in Part II of the said Act.
