Waimakariri River Trust.—Commissioner appointed.

WHEREAS by Warrant dated the 18th day of April, 1923, and published in Gazette No. 37 of the 26th day of the same month, Joseph Henry Blackwell, Esquire, Merchant, Kaiapoi, was appointed a Commissioner of the Waimakariri River Trust, in terms of section 3 of the Waimakariri River Improvement Act, 1922:

And whereas it is considered expedient to appoint another commissioner in lieu of the said Joseph Henry Blackwell, who has now resigned:

Now, therefore, I, Robert Semple, the Minister of Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 3 of the Waimakiriri River Improvement Act, 1922, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby appoint

Charles Morgan Williams, Esquire, M.P.,
of Kaiapoi, to be a commissioner of the Waimakariri River Trust.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 20th day of May, 1938.

Appointments in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments of the following officers in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy:—

Captain H. E. Horan, D.S.C., Royal Navy, as Chief of the Naval Staff, New Zealand, and First Naval Member of the Naval Board with the rank of Commodore 2nd Class, to date 8th June, 1938.

Captain I. G. Glennie, A.D.C., Royal Navy, to “Achilles” in command, in continuation of present appointment and as Commodore 2nd Class commanding the New Zealand Squadron, to date 8th June, 1938.

to be a Surveyor of Ships for the purposes of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, to carry out the measurement of fishing-boats, as from the 25th day of May, 1938.

to be a District Registrar of Apprentices for the purposes of the Apprentices Act, 1923, as from the 25th day of May, 1938.

Alfred James Logie,

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Factories Act, 1921–22, as from the 1st day of March, 1938.

Richard Gordon Simpson,

to be Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Central Otago for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, and its amendments, and Returning Officer for the Central Otago Licensing District for the purposes of the Licensing Act, 1908, and its amendments, as from the 24th day of May, 1938.
