NOTICE.
WILLIAM BERGE PHILLIPS, Esquire, of Sydney, New South Wales, a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, has this day been appointed by the Right Honourable Sir Michael Myers, G.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zealand in the State of New South Wales under the 47th section of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said section mentioned.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Bay of Islands Electric-power Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

BAY OF ISLANDS ELECTRIC-POWER DISTRICT.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Bay of Islands Electric-power District taken on the 11th day of May, 1938, on the proposal of the Bay of Islands Electric-power Board to borrow the sum of two hundred thousand pounds (£200,000) for the purpose of arranging for the supply and distribution of electric-power to the Bay of Islands Electric-power District and for the construction of all works incidental thereto, and in respect of which works, guaranteed as described in clauses 21–24 of the Electric Supply Regulations, 1935, have first been given in favour of the Power Board for repayments amounting in each of not less than five consecutive years from the completion of such works to at least 14 per cent. of the estimated capital cost of such works; and of providing funds for the purposes mentioned in section 118 of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925—namely, making advances to consumers.

Appointing Wednesday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Riverton.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Riverton was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, on the 11th day of May, 1938 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Riverton has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough on and from the 20th day of June, 1938.

And whereas the Clerk of the Town District of Kaikohe has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the Town District of Kaikohe :
Now, therefore, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the Town District of Kaikohe on and from the 20th day of June, 1938.

Notice of Intention to take Land for Scenic Purposes in Block XI, Whakatane Survey District.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and the Scenery Preservation Act, 1910, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for scenic purposes : And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kutarere and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken :
9 acres 3 roods 12 perches.
Being part Allotment 189, Waiotahi Parish, and being part Hiwarau A Block.
Situated in Block XI, Whakatane Survey District. (C.P. 4014.)
In the Gisborne Land District ; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 98062, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of Public Buildings of the General Government. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Head Office of the Public Works Department at Wellington, and is there open for inspection ; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days of the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
