Notice to Persons affected by Applications for Licenses under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936.

Retail Sale of Motor-spirit.

I HEREBY give notice that applications have been received from--

(1) J. O'Brien, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at his premises in Ngapara.

(2) W. E. Heyber, for a license to install two petrol pumps for the retail sale of motor-spirit at a proposed new garage and service station at Kaeo.

(3) J. Rae, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at a proposed new service station on the corner of Cuba Street and Esplanade, Petone.

(4) Hans Raj, for a license to sell (retail) motor-spirit at his store at Orunanui.

(5) A. Russell and Co., Ltd., for a license to install two petrol pumps for the retail sale of motor-spirit in front of a proposed new building in Ashton Street, Gore.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 10th March, 1938. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and include a statement showing the gallonage throughput of petrol sold and the nature of the business conducted by the person making the representations.

Saunderson, for a license to carry on the business of a chemist or druggist by the keeping of open shop or place for the compounding or dispensing of prescriptions at premises situated at 76 Victoria Street, Hamilton, such business to be carried on as a night pharmacy whenever day pharmacies are closed.

  2. From Boots The Chemists (N.Z.), Ltd., to take over from J. R. Wood, Ltd., an existing pharmacy situated at 165 The Square, Palmerston North.

  3. From H. W. Blinkhorn, for a license to carry on the business of chemist or druggist by the keeping of open shop or place for the compounding or dispensing of prescriptions at premises situated at Victoria Street, Lower Hutt.

  4. From Boots The Chemists (N.Z.), Ltd., to take over from Marshall's Pharmacy, Ltd., an existing pharmacy situated at 86 Princes Street, Dunedin.

  5. From Boots The Chemists (N.Z.), Ltd., to take over from G. J. Moffett an existing pharmacy at 49 Dee Street, Invercargill.

Any person who considers he will be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau in respect of these applications, and who wishes to make representations accordingly, must furnish such representations in writing so as to reach the undersigned not later than the 3rd March, 1938. All representations must set out clearly the grounds for same and should include financial statements.

Position : 093° 2'9 miles from the 4,850 ft. peak in lat. 44° 58'·2 S.; long. 167° 24'·5 E. (approx.).

Details : A rock with at least a depth of about 5 ft.M.L.W.S., exists in the above position.

Intended Alteration in Rear Leading Beacon.

Position : Lat., 41° 17'·8 S.; long., 174° 51'·9 E. (approx.).

Alteration : The colour of the beacon will shortly be altered from white to black and white horizontal stripes. No further notice will be given.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,

Auckland, 23rd February, 1938.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday, 28th March, 1938.

Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 30th March, 1938, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

Applicants are required to produce for inspection when examined documentary evidence of their financial position, such as bank pass-books, certificates or letters of credit from managers of banks, financial institutions, or mercantile firms, or from private persons or parents undertaking to give financial assistance. Persons undertaking to assist financially should state to what extent they are prepared to do so and supply guarantees of their own financial position.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent, broken-period rent, lease and mortgage fees, and deposit in reduction of improvement loading.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.

Waitomo County.—Maungamangero Survey District.

(Exempt from payment of rent for three years.*)

SECTION 19, Block VI : Area, 838 acres. Capital value, £340; half-yearly rent, £6 16s.

Weighted with £360 for improvements, comprising four-roomed dwelling in poor condition, cow-byrre, shed, boundary and subdivisional fencing, clearing and grassing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £40, the balance of £320 as follows : (1) The sum of £200 may remain on mortgage to the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand payable over a period of twenty-five years by means of quarterly instalments of principal and interest combined with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection, subject to rebate of ½ per cent. for payment of the instalments on or before fourteen days after the due dates thereof. The selector will require to meet costs amounting to £2 15s. for the preparation and registration of the mortgage. (2) The sum of £120 to the Lands and Survey Department payable over a period of fifteen years by means of thirty half-yearly instalments of £5 15s. 8d.

A mixed farming property, situated on the Mangaotaki-Waikawau Road, fifteen miles from Pio Pio Post-office and Saleyards, two miles from Haku School, and thirty miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station; access by metalled road. The Mangaotaki Stream runs parallel with the road-boundary fence thus rendering access to the section from the road poor, and proper access could be gained only by a bridge across the stream. The section fronts on to a formed legal road and the Crown is not prepared to improve the existing
