Rangitoto Survey District.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in
this behalf, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the
Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a mental
hospital; and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall
take effect on and after the tenth day of December, one
thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven.

deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, and thereon edged red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued
under the Seal of that Dominion, this 8th day of
December, 1937.

Authorizing the Minister of Public Works to construct and
maintain Water-supply Works in the Downlands Water-
supply District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 8th day of
December, 1937.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is provided by section two hundred and
seventy-four of the Public Works Act, 1928 (herein-
after called " the said Act ") that the Governor-General may,
if he thinks fit, by Order in Council, authorize the Minister
of Public Works to construct, maintain, or control any
water-race or water-supply works, either within or outside a
mining district, which are proposed to be constructed or
which have been constructed out of funds provided by
Parliament :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act, and
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the
Minister of Public Works to construct, maintain, and control
the water-supply works described in the First Schedule
hereto, and doth hereby also define the district to be served
by such water-supply works as set out in the Second Schedule
hereto, and herein referred to as the Downlands Water-
supply District.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
The Downlands Water-supply Works, to provide a water-
supply to the Downlands Water-supply District (described in
the Second Schedule hereto) by means of water drawn from
the Tengawai River and from any dam or dams which are or
may be constructed on the said river or its tributaries, such
water being conveyed into the said district by a pipe-line
known as the Downlands Water-supply Pipe Line, and by any
enlargement or extension thereof or by any other pipe line
or lines constructed or acquired by the Minister of Public
Works in addition to or in lieu of the said Downlands Water-
supply Pipe Line and any enlargement or extension thereof ;
the said works, including all dams, weirs, reservoirs, tunnels,
fluming, syphons, piping, gauge-boxes, break-pressure tanks,
valves, bridges, pumps, spillways, regulating-gates, hydrants,
meters, and all other works incidental to or required for the
construction, maintenance, and control of the said works to
provide a water-supply to the said Downlands Water-supply
District.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
All those areas in the Canterbury Land District in the Levels,
Geraldine, Mackenzie, and Waimate Counties, and the Pleasant
Point Town District as follows :-
Levels County and Pleasant Point Town District.
Commencing at the mouth of the Pareora River and
proceeding upstream to the western boundary of R.S. 28317,
Block XLV, Pareora Survey District; thence northerly and
easterly along that boundary to Summit Road; thence along
that road to the northern boundary of R.S. 36212; thence
westerly and southerly round R.S. 36212 to the Pareora River ;
thence along the Levels County boundary to the Tengawai
River at Cave ; thence downstream to the western boundary of
Lot 45, Rosewill Settlement; thence along that boundary to
Brother's Road, crossing that road and proceeding along its
northern boundary to R.S. 10259; thence northerly round
R.S. 10259 to R.S. 18663; thence westerly and northerly
round R.S. 18663 to R.S. 19507; thence easterly, northerly,
and north-westerly round R.S.s 19507, 19508, and 24574 to
Sterndale Valley Road; thence along that road to Swamp
Road, crossing that road and thence north-westerly along
that road to the eastern boundary of R.S. 23943; thence
northerly along the eastern boundaries of R.S.s 23943,
23207, 22116, 21919, 12154, 11440, and 20125 to the Opihi
River; thence down the Opihi River to its confluence with the
Tengawai River; thence up that river to the Tengawai
River Bridge; thence along the western boundaries of
R.S.s 23385, 19906, 8447, 7850, and 7406 to the Pleasant
Point Town boundary; thence easterly along that boundary
to the southernmost corner of R. 1580; thence across the
Main Point Road and proceeding south-easterly along that
road to a point on the line of the northern boundary of
R.S. 14634 produced; thence across the Main Point Road
and along the northern boundaries of R.S. 14634, R. 251,
R.S. 10463 to the Great Southern Railway; thence in a
southerly direction along that railway to the northern
boundary of R.S. 2149; thence westward along that boundary
to Main South Road; thence southerly along that road to
southern boundary of R.S. 2212; thence across that road and
along the south side of the road through R.S. 2946 to the road
bounding R.S. 3752 on the east; thence across that road and
following it in a southerly direction along the eastern bound-
aries of R.S.s 3752, 2124, 2336, and 2952; thence westerly
along the boundaries of R.S.s 2952 and 3751; thence across
that road and southerly along the western boundaries of
R.S.s 3989, 4966, 3977, and 6296 to the Landsborough Road ;
thence easterly along that road to the Otipua Creek; thence
down the Otipua Creek to the boundary of the Otipua Domain ;
thence along the western and southern boundary of that domain
to the sea-coast; thence along the sea-coast to the point of
commencement.
Geraldine County.
Commencing at the south-westernmost corner of R.S.
18687 on Opuha River, Block X, Opihi Survey District, and
proceeding easterly along the boundary of R.S. 18687 to
Raincliff Road; thence along that road crossing Wigley's
Road and thence easterly and northerly along Raincliff Road
to northern boundary of Lot 2, Rapuwai Settlement; thence
across Raincliff Road and proceeding easterly and northerly
round Lot 1 to Kakahu River; thence down Kakahu River
to the confluence with the Hae Hae To Maona River; thence
down that river to the road on northern boundary of N.R.
881; thence along northern and western boundaries of N.R.
881 to the Opihi River; thence up the Opihi River to
its confluence with the Opuha River; thence up the Opuha
River to the point of commencement.
Mackenzie County.
Commencing at a point in the Pareora River at the south-
easternmost corner of Lot 70, Rosewill Settlement, and pro-
ceeding up the Pareora River to the eastern boundary of
Lot 11, Cannington; thence north-easterly along that bound-
ary and eastern boundary of R.S. 17360 to south-western
