Declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby declare the respective areas described in the Schedule hereto to be closely populated localities for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein, shall be subject to the maximum speed-limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE.

SITUATED within Geraldine County—

All that area at Winchester adjoining and comprising the Christchurch–Dunedin Main Highway No. 101, from a point opposite the Winchester War Memorial to a point 5 chains measured along the said main highway in a north-westerly direction from its junction with the Winchester–Orari Road, a distance of approximately 25 chains.

All that area at Winchester adjoining and comprising the Winchester–Orari Road, from its junction with the Christchurch–Dunedin Main Highway to a point opposite St. John’s Anglican Church, a distance of approximately 20 chains.

All that area adjoining and comprising the Christchurch–Dunedin Main Highway No. 101, from the north-western boundary of Temuka Borough, as now constituted, to a point 30 chains measured along the said main highway in a north-westerly direction from the said boundary.

All that area adjoining and comprising the Christchurch–Dunedin Main Highway No. 101, from the northern boundary of Geraldine Borough, as now constituted, to a point 10 chains measured along the said main highway in a northerly direction from the said boundary.

Situated within Waitaki County—

All that area adjoining and comprising the Christchurch–Dunedin Main Highway No. 101, from the northern boundary of Oamaru Borough, as now constituted, to a point 40 chains measured along the said main highway in a northerly direction from the said boundary.

All that area at Kurow adjoining and comprising the Pukeuri–Kurow–Omarama Main Highway No. 122, from its junction with Fitzroy Street to its junction with the Hakataramea–Kurow Main Highway, a distance of approximately 34 chains.

Approval of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931.

IN terms of regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931, the Minister of Transport does hereby approve, until further notice, of the person named in column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in column 1 of the said Schedule.

Fixing Date on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, are to be furnished.

PURSUANT to section 28 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31st December, 1937, shall be transmitted to the Fire Boards concerned in the manner prescribed by the said section on or before the 28th day of February, 1938.
