Notice respecting Proposed Abolition of Waikiwi River District, County of Southland.

Wellington, 12th October, 1937.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General under the River Boards Act, 1908, and amendments, praying for the abolition of the Waikiwi River District, situated in the County of Southland. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed abolition of the district, which they desired to lodge, within one month of the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Hon. Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

Excluding Streets and Roads from Limitation as to Speed imposed by the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3.

IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport does hereby exclude the streets and roads described in the Schedule hereto from the limitation as to speed imposed by the said section.


SCHEDULE.

Situated within Matamata Borough—
Waitoa–Taupo Main Highway No. 19 (all that portion from the northern boundary of Matamata Borough to a point 6 chains measured along the road in a northerly direction from the Government railway-crossing, a distance of approximately 28 chains; and all that portion from the south-western boundary of Matamata Borough to a point opposite the southern boundary of the Matamata High School grounds, a distance of approximately 32 chains).

Matamata–Tauranga Main Highway No. 20 (all that portion from the eastern boundary of Matamata Borough to the junction of the main highway and Tower Road, a distance of approximately 12 chains).

Situated within Mercer Town District—
Great South Road (all that portion from the northern boundary of Mercer Town District to a point opposite the goods entrance to the Mercer Railway-station, a distance of approximately 20 chains).

Situated within Paeroa Borough—
Pokeno–Waihi Main Highway No. 15 (all that portion from the north-western boundary of Paeroa Borough to a point 2 chains measured along the road in a north-westerly direction from the junction of the main highway and Hill Street, a distance of approximately 22 chains; and all that portion from the south-eastern boundary of Paeroa Borough to a point 12 chains measured along the road in a south-easterly direction from the Catholic School).

Situated within the Te Puke Borough—
Tauranga–Whakatane Main Highway No. 15 (all that portion from the north-western boundary of the Te Puke Borough to a point opposite the western end of the Te Puke Railway-station, a distance of approximately 67 chains; and all that portion from the eastern boundary of Te Puke Borough to a point opposite the Monument, a distance of approximately 32 chains).

Situated within Thames Borough—
Pipiropa–Coromandel Main Highway No. 16 (all that portion from the southern boundary of Thames Borough to the junction of the main highway and Fenton Street, a distance of approximately 20 chains; and all that portion from the junction of the main highway with Tararu Creek Road to the northern boundary of Thames Borough, a distance of approximately 1½ miles).

Ekatahuna–Alfredton Main Highway No. 62 (all that portion from its junction with Haswell Street to the eastern boundary of Ekatahuna Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 11 chains).

Ekatahuna–Nireaha Main Highway No. 477 (all that portion from the junction of High Street and Septimus Street to the western boundary of Ekatahuna Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 48 chains).

Situated within Featherston Borough—
Wellington–Napier via Wairarapa Main Highway No. 15 (all that portion from the western boundary of Featherston Borough as now constituted, to a point 2 chains measured along the road in a north-easterly direction from the junction of the said main highway and Featherston–Pigeon Bush Main Highway, a distance of approximately 25 chains).

Featherston–Martinborough Main Highway No. 77 (all that portion from its junction with Donald Street to the south-eastern boundary of Featherston Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 21 chains).

Featherston–Pigeon Bush Main Highway No. 74 (all that portion within Featherston Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 11 chains).

Situated within Greytown Borough—
Wellington–Napier via Wairarapa Main Highway No. 15 (all that portion from the south-western boundary of Greytown Borough as now constituted, to the junction of the said main highway with the Greytown–Bidwell’s Cutting Main Highway, a distance of approximately 56 chains).

Greytown–Bidwell’s Cutting Main Highway No. 70 (all that portion within Greytown Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 32 chains).

Situated within Masterton Borough—
High Street (all that portion from its junction with Solway Street to the western boundary of Masterton Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 28 chains).

South Manaiia Road (all that portion from its junction with Devon Street to the south-western boundary of Masterton Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 20 chains).

Akura Road (all that portion from the north-western boundary of Masterton Borough as now constituted, for a distance of 13 chains measured along the road in a south-easterly direction).

Situated within Pahiatua Borough—
Wellington–Napier via Wairarapa Main Highway No. 15 (all that portion from the south-western boundary of Pahiatua Borough as now constituted, to the junction of the said main highway with George Street, a distance of approximately 15 chains, and all that portion from the north-eastern boundary of Pahiatua Borough as now constituted, to a point 2 chains measured along the road in a north-easterly direction from the junction of the said main highway with Cambridge Street, a distance of approximately 8 chains).

Pahiatua Station Main Highway No. 84 (all that portion from the north-western boundary of Pahiatua Borough as now constituted, to a point 5 chains measured along the road in a north-westerly direction from the junction of the said main highway with Crewe Street, a distance of approximately 12 chains).

Mangaone Valley Main Highway No. 442 (all that portion within Pahiatua Borough as now constituted, a distance of approximately 44 chains).
