Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Fruiterers’ Shops within the Borough of Hamilton.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Hamilton pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, Patrick Charles Webb, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 13th day of September, 1937, all the said shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions :—

(1) On the working-day immediately preceding Anzac Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day, there shall be no fixed closing-hour ; and

(2) On the Friday immediately preceding Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, when any such day falls on a Sunday or a Monday, there shall be no fixed closing-hour.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Hamilton of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Fruiterer.

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Hamilton, has been forwarded to me desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a fruiterer—namely, fresh and preserved fruit (other than jam) and vegetables—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I, Patrick Charles Webb, acting for the Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 13th day of September, 1937, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays after the hour of 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions :—

WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the fruiterers’ shops within the Borough of Morrinsville, has been forwarded to me desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a fruiterer—namely, fresh and preserved fruit (other than jam) and vegetables—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Lyttelton.

Wellington, 25th August, 1937.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Lyttelton are hereby defined as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 7th day of July, 1937, and published in Gazette No. 45 of the 8th day of July, 1937.

SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF LYTTLETON.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the summit of the Port Hills at the north-east corner of Native Reserve No. 875; towards the north generally by the summit of the Port Hills aforesaid; towards the east by the spur of the hill intersecting Rural Section 33903, and running down to mean high-water mark of the Lyttelton Harbour; thence towards the south by the said mean high-water mark to the approach to the Gladstone Pier; thence towards the west by lines bearing 269° 33′, 185·7 links, 53° 53′, 152·8 links, and 358° 21′ 30″, 170 links, which form the western boundary of the land in Proclamation, New Zealand Gazette, dated 2nd March, 1922, page 570; thence by the western boundary of the Road Reserve and right-of-way which follow approximately along the original boundary of the sea mentioned in N.Z. Statutes, 1867, page 334; thence towards the south generally by the original boundary of the borough (N.Z. Statutes, 1867, page 334) to and including the areas in Proclamations in New Zealand Gazettes dated 31st August, 1872, and 17th September, 1885; thence again following the old original boundary mentioned in N.Z. Statutes, 1867, page 334 aforesaid, to and by the boundary of the area vested in the Lyttelton Harbour Board under the Lyttelton Harbour Board Act, 1877, a distance of 56 links and bearing 152° 0′, to and by the original high-water mark along the retaining-wall of the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s reclaimed land and the Naval Point Breakwater to the south-eastern extremity of the said breakwater; thence towards the south-east and south generally by lines bearing 180°, 20 links, 225° 35′,
