SCHEDULE.
HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waipawa County.—Takapau Survey District.
(Native Land Settlement.)
SECTION 28, Block II: Area, 250 acres 0 roods 10 perches. Capital value, £2,820. Deposit on deferred payments, £170: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £86 2s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £70 10s.
Weighted with £558 for improvements, comprising water-supply, felling, grassing, and fencing. This sum may be paid in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £18, the balance (£540) may be paid by forty half-yearly instalments of £21 13s. 5d. each, principal and interest.
Section 29, Block II: Area, 260 acres 2 roods 24 perches. Capital value, £2,935. Deposit on deferred payments, £185: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £89 7s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £73 7s. 6d.
Weighted with £573 for improvements, comprising water-supply, bushfelling, grassing, and fencing. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a deposit of £23, the balance (£550) may be repaid by forty half-yearly instalments of £22 1s. 5d. each, principal and interest.
These sections are situated close to the main highway about three miles and a half from the Takapau Post-office, School, and Railway-station, and five miles from Otawhao Dairy Factory; access by tar-sealed main highway from Takapau and metalled road for quarter of a mile. Rolling downs and half flat, practically all ploughable; altitude about 900 ft. to 1,000 ft.; soil light loam resting on clay and gravel; watered by streams which give out in summer time, but power-pump supply from bore on Section 29 with 6,000-gallon concrete reservoir on Section 28 has been installed, which should meet all future requirements.
Section 28 is all cleared except 35 acres manuka scrub; 10 acres swamp, 205 acres fair pasture.
Section 29 comprises 11 acres drained swamp (raupo, flax, &c.), and 250 acres fair pasture.
Special condition.—The successful applicants will be required to enter into an agreement regarding the water-supply which also supplies an additional section now held under Native lease.

Lands in Wellington Land District for Selection.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 9th March, 1937.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to noon on Tuesday, 30th March, 1937.
The land described in the First Schedule may, at the option of the applicants, be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease. The land described in the Second Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 31st March, 1937, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Kaitieke County.—Kaitieke Survey District.
SECTION 4, Block XII: Area, 193 acres 2 roods. Capital value £170.* Deposit on deferred payments, £10: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £5 4s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 8s.
- Improvements included in the capital value comprise 124 chains fencing, approximately 30 acres felling and grassing, and ½ acre stumped.
A grazing property situated on the Raurimu-Kaitieke Road, one mile and a half from Raurimu Post-office and School and two miles from Raurimu Railway-station by metalled road. The section lies well, but the back portion runs to high sandstone bluffs. Approximately 30 acres have been felled and grassed, 45 acres have reverted, and 118 acres are in natural state. The soil is of light quality loam resting on sandstone and papa formation; watered by streams. There are some small patches of blackberry.

THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Kaitieke County.—Retaruke Survey District.
Section 2, Block VIII: Area, 1,320 acres. Capital value, £330. Deposit on deferred payments, £20: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £10 1s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 12s.
Weighted with improvements to the value of £785, comprising felling and grassing, 414 chains of fencing, four-roomed dwelling, shed, and yards. This sum may be paid in cash or may be secured by mortgage under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act for a term of 36½ years with interest at the rate of 5 per cent. in the case of a discharged soldier and 5½ per cent. in the case of a civilian.
A grazing property, subdivided into four paddocks, situated on Mangaoraki Road, eight miles from Kaitieke Post-office, ten miles from Kaitieke School, and eighteen miles from Raurimu Railway-station; access is from Raurimu which is eighteen miles distant by metalled road. The section comprises about 10 acres easy undulating land, the balance being hilly and rough. Approximately 350 acres felled and grassed and 300 acres felled and reverted: 670 acres are in natural state. The soil is of light quality loam resting on sandstone and papa formation; watered by streams and springs. Altitude 950 ft. to 1,400 ft.

Waitotara County.—Nukumaru Survey District.

Section 9, Block II: Area, 518 acres 2 roods 35·4 perches. Capital value, £130. Deposit on deferred payments, £10: Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £3 18s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 12s.
Weighted with £620 for improvements, comprising a five-roomed dwelling, washhouse, wool-shed, 260 chains fencing, and felling and grassing. This sum may be paid in cash or may be secured on mortgage under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act for a term not exceeding 36½ years, bearing interest at 5 per cent. per annum in the case of a discharged soldier or 5½ per cent. in the case of a civilian. Exempt from payment of mortgage interest for two years.
Situated on Waitotara Valley Road, about seventeen miles from Waitotara Post-office and Railway-station and three-quarters of a mile from Orangimea School; access is by good metalled road. The soil is of rather poor quality resting on rock and sandstone with rubbly papa in places. Generally a poor section, being rather steep with rock outcrops on top of ridges. Some good small flats of some 17 acres along the road frontage; well watered and subdivided into six paddocks. The land is suitable for grazing, but could also carry a small dairy herd.
