Wanganui County.—Waipakura Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent for five years.)
SECTION 4, Block III: Area, l,075 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £265; half-yearly rent, £5 6s.
Weighted with £240 (payable in cash) for improvements, consisting of felling, grassing, and fencing (in very poor condition).
A grazing property, subdivided into three paddocks, situated on Motu Branch Road off the Wanganui River Road, twenty-two miles from Wanganui Post-office, and nineteen miles from Aramoho Railway-station and school. Cream is collected at the property. The section comprises hilly broken land cut up by bad gorges—dangerous cattle country. Practically the whole area has been felled but has reverted to heavy scrub and fern. The soil is of poor quality resting on sandstone and clay formation; watered by streams and springs.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for sale for cash by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, 20th April, 1937, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WALLACE COUNTY.—RURAL LAND.
SECTION 10, Block II, Alton Survey District : Area, 13 acres 1 rood 20 perches. Upset price, £50.
Weighted with £21 10s. (to be paid in cash) for fencing. Situated at the junction of the Clifden and Alton Valley Roads and about two miles and three-quarters from Tuatapere Township by good metalled road. Approximately half the area is terrace and flat tops of good quality, the balance being flat which is inclined to be rather cold and sour.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Auction.
State Forest Service,
Palmerston North, 8th March, 1937.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned milling-timber will be disposed of by public auction at the office of the State Forest Service, Palmerston North, at 3 o'clock p.m. on Monday, the 5th day of April, 1937.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.
ALL the milling-timber on that piece of land containing approximately 129 acres, being Section 10, Block VII, Waro Survey District, Provisional State Forest No. 55, about fourteen miles from Ohura Township.
The total estimated quantity of timber in cubic feet is 124,530, or in board feet 823,150, made up as follows :—

Terms of Payment.
A marked cheque for one-tenth of the purchase-money, together with £1 ls. license fee, must be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance by nine equal monthly instalments, the first of which shall be paid one month after the date of sale.
Terms and Conditions.
- All instalment payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.
- The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22, the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions.
- The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the purchaser be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber.
- A return giving the number of logs cut of each species and their contents must be made quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June, September, and December, respectively, in each year. A return must also be made on the same dates showing the output of sawn timber of each species. These returns may be ascertained and verified by inspection of the books of the mill, or by such other means as the Conservator may require, and for this purpose the accounts and books shall be open to the inspection of the Conservator, a Forest Ranger, or other duly authorized officer.
- The attention of buyers is drawn to the fact that the local controlling body may require the successful bidder to pay any claims or charges which may be made by that body for the maintenance of the road over which the timber may be transported, and before a sawmill license is issued a letter indicating that satisfactory arrangements have been made in this connection must be produced to the undersigned.
- Intending buyers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relative to the sale.
- The timber described is submitted for sale subject to the final acceptance of the highest bid by the Commissioner of State Forests.
- The right is reserved to the Commissioner of State Forests to withdraw from sale any or all of the said timber before the date of sale.
- If no bid is accepted for the timber herein mentioned it will remain open for application at the upset price until further notice.
The conditions, which will be inserted in the license to be issued to the purchaser, and further particulars may be obtained on application to the undersigned or to the Director of Forestry, Wellington.
