THE following notices, received from the Chairman, Stratford Borough Council, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

STRATFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Proposed Stratford Borough Electrical Works Loan of £5,000, 1936.
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Stratford taken on the 18th day of November, 1936, on the proposal of the Stratford Borough Council to borrow the sum of five thousand pounds (£5,000) for the purpose of the purchase of additional plant and equipment for and the erection and construction of additions to the Council’s reticulation for the supply of electricity within the borough—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 118
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 59

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Proposed Stratford Borough Public Baths Loan of £3,500, 1936.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Stratford taken on the 18th day of November, 1936, on the proposal of the Stratford Borough Council to borrow the sum of three thousand five hundred pounds (£3,500) to construct, erect, and equip a public swimming-bath in the Borough of Stratford—

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, and its Amendments, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Hamilton.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Hamilton pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I, Hubert Thomas Armstrong, Minister of Labour, do hereby direct that on and after the 21st day of December, 1936, all tobacconists’ shops within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : Subject to closing not later than the prescribed hour on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On the last working-day preceding Christmas Day and on the last working-day preceding New Year’s Day, the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m., and (2) on the Thursday immediately preceding Good Friday and on the Thursday immediately preceding any of the following days, viz., Anzac Day, King’s Birthday, and Anniversary Day, when any of such days falls on a Friday, the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m. :
The notice dated the 28th March, 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 29th March, 1928, fixing the closing-hours of tobacconists’ shops in the said borough shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice :
And whereas the said requisition is signed by not less than two-thirds of the occupiers of tobacconists’ shops within the said borough, notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 25 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1927, all other shops within the said borough in which smoking requisites are sold shall be closed at the same hours as are set out herein for tobacconists’ shops : Provided that no such other shop which is closed for the statutory half-holiday on any day other than Saturday shall be required by the said section 25 to be closed earlier than 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Classification of Roads in Rodney County.
———
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby revoke, in so far as it relates to the classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Rodney County, the Warrant classifying roads in the Rodney County, dated the 5th day of August, 1935, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 58 of the 15th day of August, 1935, at page 2247, and do hereby declare that the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Rodney County shall belong to the class of roads shown in the said Schedule.

Classification of Roads in Otamatea County.
———
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, Robert Semple, Minister of Transport, do hereby revoke, in so far as it relates to the classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Otamatea County, the Warrant classifying roads in certain counties and other districts, dated the 31st day of October, 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 82 of the 1st day of November, 1928, commencing at page 3143, and do hereby declare that the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Otamatea County shall belong to the class of roads shown in the said Schedule.
