Land in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 24th November, 1936.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for sale for cash or on deferred payments by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Friday, 8th January, 1937, at 2.30 o’clock p.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND.
Horowhenua County.—Waitohu Survey District.—Town of Ohau.
SECTION 22: Area, 1 rood 36 perches. Upset price, £45. Weighted with the sum of £5 (to be paid in cash) for fencing. This section is situated in the Town of Ohau, on the Main North Road, about 30 chains from the post-office and store, and comprises flat land of first-class quality, in grass.

Land in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 24th November, 1936.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 12th January, 1937.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, on Thursday, 14th January, 1937, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
NOTE.—These lands are offered in terms of section 153 of the Land Act, 1924, which provides that no right to any mineral under the surface shall pertain to the lessee, whose rights shall be to the surface soil only.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Murchison County.—Matakikaki Survey District.—Westland Mining District.

SECTIONS 1 and 2, Block XIII: Area, 756 acres. Capital value, £220; half-yearly rent, £4 8s.
Weighted with £120 for improvements, consisting of 260 acres felled and burned but now in fern. This sum is payable in cash, or, after payment of a cash deposit of £20, the balance (£100) may be secured by a twenty-year instalment mortgage under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act at 5 per cent. interest to a discharged soldier, 5½ per cent. interest to a civilian. Half-yearly charge £3 19s. 8d. to a soldier, and £4 3s. 1d. to a civilian.
This property, which is suitable for grazing sheep, is situated in the Rappahannock Valley, eight miles from Warwick Junction Post-office, six miles from Warwick Junction School, forty-eight miles from Reefton Railway-station, twelve miles from Station Creek Dairy Factory, and thirty-seven miles from Murchison Saleyards; access from Murchison by formed and metalled road except for four miles of dray-road. Soil light to fair resting on conglomerate formation; watered by streams. Mostly hillside country with small flats along the creeks. Altitude 1,250 ft. to 2,400 ft.

Murchison County.—Burnett Survey District.—Westland Mining District.
Section 7, Block XII: Area, 592 acres. Capital value, £120; half-yearly rent, £2 8s.
Weighted with £100 for improvements, comprising four-roomed cottage, cow-shed, approximately 30 chains fencing, and 3 acres stumped and cleared. This amount may be paid in cash or may be secured by way of first mortgage to the State Advances Corporation—term, twenty years, with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection. Legal costs in connection with this mortgage, amounting to £2 9s., will be payable by the successful applicant.
This property is situated in the Maruia Valley, four miles from Warwick Junction Post-office, nine miles from dairy factory, and forty-nine miles from Reefton Railway-station; access from Reefton by formed and metalled road. Mostly hillside with the exception of 20 acres of small flats and 12 acres terrace land; well watered by creeks. Altitude from 1,100 ft. to 2,100 ft. Fern very prominent.

Buller County.—Steeple Survey District.—Karamea Mining District.

Section 7, Block I: Area, 167 acres 0 roods 23 perches. Capital value, £40; half-yearly rent, 16s.
Weighted with £60 for improvements, comprising five-roomed dwelling and 150 chains boundary-fencing. This sum may be paid in cash or may be secured by way of first mortgage to the State Advances Corporation of New Zealand for a term of twenty years with interest at the rate ruling as at date of selection. Legal costs in connection with this mortgage, amounting to £2 3s., will be payable by the successful applicant.
This section is situated on the Cape Foulwind Road, half a mile from Cape Foulwind Post-office and School, seven miles from Westport Railway-station and Buller Valley Dairy Factory, and thirty-six miles from Inangahua Saleyards; access is by formed and metalled road from Westport. The property is suitable for grazing, being undulating and flat land broken with gullies. The soil is of a clayey nature, resting on gravels; watered by small creeks. Most of this area has been burned, grass is very sparse, now mostly fern and second growth. The property has been boundary-fenced and subdivided into two paddocks, but fencing is in poor condition.

Section 6, Block XIV: Area, 181 acres 2 roods 26 perches. Capital value, £150; half-yearly rent, £3.
Situated about one mile and a half from Pembroke Post-office, the sections comprise mainly undulating country, most of which is ploughable, portion of Section 6 being ridgy and broken. The land is poor in quality, no water being available.
