referred to as “ the licensee ”), subject to the conditions set
forth in the First Schedule hereto, to lay, construct, put up,
place, and use the electric lines described in the Second
Schedule hereto ; and further, for the purposes of section
seventy-six of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, subject
to the said conditions, doth hereby authorize the Board to
construct and maintain the said electrical works.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
- LICENSE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS.
In respect of the lines hereby authorized, the licensee shall
comply with the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, the
Electrical Wiring Regulations, 1935, and with any regulations
made or to be made in amendment or amplification thereof or
in substitution therefor. The conditions by clause 27–11
of the Electrical Supply Regulations, 1935, directed to be
implied in all licenses shall be incorporated in and shall form
part of this license except in so far as the same may be
inconsistent with the provisions hereof.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraphs (a)
and ( f ) of clause 21–01 of the regulations.
The primary-distribution voltage shall be 6,600 volts
between phases. The secondary-distribution voltage shall be
approximately 400 volts between phases and 230 volts between
any phase and neutral.
Electrical energy may, if required, be purchased in bulk
from the hydro-electric plant at present being operated at
Onakaka, and pursuant to clause 6 of license dated 16th
September, 1935, issued to C. G. White and D. G. Johnston.
- DURATION OF LICENSE.
This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance
with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force
until the 30th day of September, 1957. Upon the expiry of
the said term, or upon the sooner determination of this license
by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby granted to the
licensee shall cease and determine ; but such expiration or
determination shall not relieve the licensee of any liability
theretofore incurred under this license.
- CHARGES FOR ELECTRICAL ENERGY.
The charges for electrical energy shall not exceed 1s. per
unit for lighting purposes and 6d. per unit for motor-power,
heating, or cooking purposes ; provided that “ lighting
purposes ” shall include the operation of motor-generators for
lighting purposes ; and provided further that if accounts are
paid within fourteen days of due date the charges shall not
exceed 9d. per unit for lighting purposes and 4½d. per unit
for motor-power, heating, and cooking purposes.
In the case of wholesale supply the charge shall not exceed
£12 per kilovolt-ampere of half-hourly maximum demand
per year. “ Wholesale supply ” for this purpose shall be
held to be a supply in respect of which the consumer shall
guarantee to pay not less than £250 per year. Supply may
be given to wholesale consumers at 6,600 volts.
- TIME FOR COMPLETION OF WORKS.
The period for completion of the works hereby authorized
shall be three years from the date of this license.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
(a) Electric lines adapted for the supply of electrical energy
by the system of supply hereinbefore described—
(i) Commencing from the licensee’s existing substation at
Takaka Bridge, and proceeding thence in a north-
westerly direction generally through Sections 49
and 50, Block V, Waitapu Survey District, to the
south-western boundary of the area added to the
Golden Bay Electric-power District by Proclamation
dated the 21st day of July, 1936, published in the
New Zealand Gazette on the 23rd day of the same
month, at page 1375 (herein referred to as “ the
added area ”) :
(ii) Resuming on the north-western boundary of the added
area, in Section 1, Block II, Waitapu Survey District,
and proceeding thence north-westerly by the most
direct convenient route through the said Section 1
and Sections 11, 86, 94, and part 95 in the said
Block II to the substation at Onakaka Ironworks ;
thence northerly through parts of Sections 95 and 98
and Section 99 to a point near the northern corner
of the said Section 99 ; thence north-easterly through
parts Section 100 to the Onakaka Wharf.
(iii) Branching from the line described in paragraph (ii)
above at a point in Section part 94, Block II, Waitapu
Survey District, and proceeding thence north-
easterly to a transformer in the said Section 94.
(iv) Branching from the line described in paragraph (ii) at
the substation at the Onakaka Ironworks, and
proceeding thence southerly to the hydro-electric
station of the Onakaka Ironworks situated in part
Section 16, Block II, Waitapu Survey District, and
referred to in the Order in Council dated the 16th
day of September, 1935, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette on the 19th day of the same month.
(b) Such electric lines adapted for the supplying of electrical
energy by the system of supply hereinbefore described as may
from time to time be required to give supply to consumers—
(v) Within the added area.
(vi) Within part of the outer area of the Golden Bay
Electric-power District lying within a radius of one
mile of the substation in Section 94 described in
paragraph (iii) above.
(vii) Within part of the outer area of the Golden Bay
Electric-power District lying within a radius of half
a mile of the Onakaka Wharf.
The electric works at present proposed to be erected being
more particularly delineated by means of red and blue lines
on plan marked P.W.D. 92759, deposited in the office of the
Minister of Public Works.

Authorizing the Waitemata Electric-power Board to construct,
maintain, and use certain Electric Lines.
GALWAY, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 28th day of
October, 1936.
Present :
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council.
I N pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the
Public Works Act, 1928, and the Electric-power Boards
Act, 1925, and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby authorize the Waitemata Electric-
power Board (hereinafter with its successors and assigns
referred to as “ the licensee ”), subject to the conditions set
forth in the First Schedule hereto, to lay, construct, put up,
place, and use electric lines within the area described in the
Second Schedule hereto ; and, further, for the purposes of
section seventy-six of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925,
subject to the said conditions, doth hereby authorize the
Board to construct and maintain the said electrical works.
