Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to make
and levy Rates.
Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 12th September, 1936.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to
the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, to make and levy, on
the unimproved value of all land within the district con-
stituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet main-
tenance-costs for the period 1st April, 1936, to 31st March,
1937, as described in the Schedule hereto.
The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the
1st October, 1936.
The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at
the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s
Office, Room 45, Government Buildings, Customs Street,
Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office
of the Chief Drainage Engineer, at Kerepehi, at all times
at which those offices are open for the transaction of public
business.

SCHEDULE.
Class A : On the unimproved value of all land classified as
Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act,
threepence and fourteen one-hundredths of a penny (3·14d.)
in the pound.
Class B : On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class B, one penny and eighty-three one-hundredths
of a penny (1·83d.) in the pound.
Class C : On the unimproved value of all lands so classified
as Class C, forty-six one-hundredths of a penny (0·46d.)
in the pound.

Teachers’ Certificate Examinations, 1936.

THE following lists contain the principal results of the
teachers’ certificate examinations held in August.
In the preparation of the lists consideration has been given to
candidates’ successes at previous examinations held by the
Department.
The first list (I) contains the names of successful candidates
for Classes B, C, and D. Teachers’ certificates will be issued
to such of these as have produced satisfactory evidence of
age and good character, have passed the special medical
examination required, have paid the necessary fee, and have
fulfilled the necessary conditions as to training and efficiency
in teaching.
The second list (II) gives the names of those who have passed
in subjects for Class C, but have yet to complete the exami-
nation.
Certificated teachers who have gained promotion at this
examination may send their certificates to the Department
for endorsement.

Appointment of Deputy District Public Trustee.
NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the power
and authority vested in me by section 3 of the Public
Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, I, the Public Trustee
of the Dominion of New Zealand, have appointed Samuel
Baldwin Earles, of the Public Trust Office, Stratford, to be
Deputy of the District Public Trustee, Stratford, during the
absence of such District Public Trustee from his headquarters
from any cause, and all previous warrants appointing any
Deputy of the said District Public Trustee have been revoked.
