GALWAY, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by section forty of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, I, George Vere Arundell, Viscount Galway, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

to be a Conciliation Commissioner under and for the purposes of Part II of the said Act, the appointment to date from the first day of June, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-six.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 11th day of June, 1936.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Military Forces:—

COMMANDS AND STAFF.

Captain C. S. J. Duff, R.N.Z.A., relinquishes the appointment of Assistant Staff Officer, Artillery (temp.), G.H.Q., Wellington, and is appointed Officer Commanding Fort Dorset, and Instructor in Gunnery, Central Command. Dated 11th May, 1936.

The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel H. B. Maunsell, E.D., The Wellington East Coast Mounted Rifles, is extended to 31st May, 1937.

Lieutenant-Colonel J. Ll. Saunders, D.S.O., v.d., relinquishes command of the 1st Battalion, The Wellington Regiment, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 31st May, 1936.

Major E. M. Stace, E.D., The Wellington Regiment, is appointed to command the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st June, 1936.

The period of command of Major D. A. Carty, 15th Coast Battery, N.Z.A., is extended to 14th May, 1937.

Major C. H. Beach, Corps of N.Z. Engineers, is appointed to command the 2nd Field Company. Dated 12th May, 1936.

ROYAL N.Z. AIR FORCE.

Frederic Rusden Newell to be Flying Officer, and is posted to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Base, Auckland. Dated 1st June, 1936.

THE OTAGO MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain W. R. Creeser, The Southland Regiment, is attached under the provisions of paragraph 141, General Regulations, 1927. Dated 15th January, 1936.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Captain W. S. Wilson ceases to be posted to the 1st Field Battery, and is posted to the 4th Field Battery. Dated 29th May, 1936.

Lieutenant H. M. Lewis ceases to be posted to the 4th Field Battery, and is posted to the 1st Field Battery. Dated 1st June, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant A. L. Hogg ceases to be posted to the 1st Field Battery, and is posted to the 9th Field Battery, with seniority from 29th September, 1934, next below 2nd Lieutenant J. C. Fleming. Dated 29th May, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant O. G. Wiles ceases to be posted to the 1st Field Battery, and is posted to the 3rd Field Battery. Dated 26th May, 1936.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Captain C. H. Beach, 2nd Field Company, to be Major. Dated 12th May, 1936.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Captain A. B. Thompson, 3rd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 22nd May, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant G. L. Allcock, from the Reserve of Officers, The Waikato Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 13th March, 1935, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 18th May, 1936.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) A. F. Papesch, 2nd Cadet Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 27th May, 1936.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Captain T. V. Fitzpatrick, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 3. Dated 12th May, 1936.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. H. C. Mackenzie, 3rd Cadet Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 20th May, 1936.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. B. Schulze, 1st Cadet Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 2nd April, 1936.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Lieutenant W. J. Scott, 3rd Cadet Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 30th May, 1936.

THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.

The undermentioned Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Captains:—

O. J. Hutchison. Dated 1st April, 1936.

M. A. Nightingale. Dated 2nd April, 1936.

THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.

Captain W. R. Creeser ceases to be posted to the 1st Battalion, and is attached to the Otago Mounted Rifles. Dated 15th January, 1936.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The Reverend H. H. Jeffreys, Chaplain, 4th Class (Methodist), is transferred from R.D. 5 to R.D. 1. Dated 12th May, 1936.

N.Z. DENTAL CORPS.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 75, dated 25th October, 1923, relative to Lieutenant R. F. Johnston, is hereby cancelled, and the following substituted:—

“Lieutenant R. F. Johnston is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1, with the rank of Captain, and with seniority from 26th April, 1917. Dated 3rd October, 1923.”

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

Class II (a)—

Honorary Colonel F. J. Jones, M.V.O., I.S.O., is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 16th May, 1936.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.

Lieutenant A. T. McKenzie, M.M., is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 2nd June, 1936.

N.Z. Chaplains Department.

The Reverend W. H. Speer, Chaplain, 4th Class (Methodist), Class II, is transferred from R.D. 10 to R.D. 1. Dated 12th May, 1936.
