Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, Resignations, and
Retirements of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been
pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces:—

COMMANDS.

The period of command of Lieutenant-Colonel S. D. Mason, 1st Battalion, The Canterbury Regiment, is extended to 14th July, 1936.

The period of command of Major G. R. Cowie, 17th Medium Battery, N.Z.A., is extended to 23rd April, 1937.

REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant R. S. Stacey ceases to be posted to the 1st Field Brigade (Takapuna Grammar School, Artillery Section), and is posted to the 2nd Artillery Brigade Group (Palmerston North Boys' High School, Artillery Section). Dated 1st April, 1936.

Lieutenant H. G. O. Tansley, 13th Coast Battery, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 3. Dated 20th April, 1936.

Lieutenant H. H. Babington, 17th Medium Battery, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 8. Dated 27th April, 1936.

THE AUCKLAND REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

Lieutenant A. W. Hewitt, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 14th April, 1936.

THE HAWKE’S BAY REGIMENT.

The undermentioned Lieutenants, 1st Cadet Battalion, to be Captains:—

E. W. P. Massey. Dated 24th November, 1934.

H. C. Sibley. Dated 25th November, 1934.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Lieutenants:—

K. A. Powell. Dated 1st March, 1935.

R. F. Haycock. Dated 10th March, 1935.

J. R. S. Sealy. Dated 15th March, 1935.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants:—

J. Conolly, 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 1st April, 1934.

N. P. Piteaithly, 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 1st February, 1935.

D. H. Nisbet, 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 1st February, 1936.

F. O. Burtt, 2nd Cadet Battalion. Dated 31st March, 1936.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) A. F. Scherer, 2nd Cadet Battalion, lapses. Dated 15th April, 1936.

Walter Dickson to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 23rd March, 1936.

THE NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Lieutenant K. D. Anderson, 3rd Cadet Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 29th August, 1935.

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) A. T. Begg, 1st Cadet Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 17th April, 1936.

THE WELLINGTON REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. B. Fell, from the Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 2nd September, 1934, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 24th April, 1936.

2nd Lieutenant G. M. Cleary, 2nd Cadet Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 21st April, 1936.

THE WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENT.

The undermentioned Lieutenants, 1st Battalion, to be Captains:—

C. L. Pleasants. Dated 12th November, 1935.

J. H. R. Luxford. Dated 2nd April, 1936.

THE CANTERBURY REGIMENT.

Captain L. de F. Ensor, 3rd Cadet Battalion, is transferred to the Otago Regiment. Dated 27th April, 1936.

THE NELSON, MARLBOROUGH, AND WEST COAST REGIMENT.

Lieutenant R. B. Fell, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 24th April, 1936.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants, and are posted to the 1st Battalion:—

Leslie Gledstone Brown. Dated 2nd March, 1936.

THE OTAGO REGIMENT.

Captain L. de F. Ensor, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority from 17th February, 1930, and is posted to the 1st Cadet Battalion. Dated 27th April, 1936.

THE SOUTHLAND REGIMENT.

2nd Lieutenant A. R. Dreaver, 1st Cadet Battalion, to be Lieutenant. Dated 30th March, 1936.

Reginald John Stimpson to be Bandmaster, 1st Battalion, and is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 15th April, 1936.

N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain G. G. Talbot, M.B., resigns his commission. Dated 27th February, 1936.

Captain W. N. Scarle, M.B., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Southern Command. Dated 27th April, 1936.

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

The Wellington Regiment.

Lieutenant J. R. Cuddie is posted to the Retired List with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 27th April, 1936.

Member of the Maru Rabbit Board appointed.—(Notice No. Ag. 3380.)

to be an Inspector of Mines for the purposes of the Mining Act, 1926, and its amendments, and an Inspector of Quarries for the purposes of the Stone-quarries Act, 1910, and its amendments, for the Mining Districts of Karames, Marlborough, and Westland, as from the 27th day of April, 1936.

Eric Halerow Kirk,

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Ohautira, as from the 28th day of March, 1936.

Rowland Thomas Montgomery King,

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Rakaunui, as from the 28th day of March, 1936.

Kenneth Hampton Fricker,

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Motuti, as from the 25th day of May, 1936.
