KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.
LAND TO BE TAKEN UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1928,
FOR RIVER-PROTECTION PURPOSES AT AWAHURI, NEAR THE
AWAHURI BRIDGE.
NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the powers
vested in local authorities by and of the provisions
contained in the Public Works Act, 1928, the Kairanga
County Council, a County Council incorporated under
the Counties Act, and having its office at Rangitikei
Street, Palmerston North, intends at the expiration of
forty (40) days from the 24th day of October, 1935,
being the date of first publication of this notice, to
take under the Public Works Act, 1928, those pieces or
parcels of land more particularly described in the Schedule
hereunder written, and as shown on a plan deposited in the
public office of the Kairanga County Council, and is there
open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary
office hours.
The work proposed to be executed by the said Council is
the protection of the left bank of the Ōroua River in order
to safeguard the approach to the Awahuri Bridge.
And take notice that all persons affected by the construction
of the said public work or by the taking of the said land are
required to set forth in writing any well-grounded objection
to the execution of such public work or to the taking of such
land, and to send such writing within forty (40) days from the
said 24th day of October, 1935, to the said Kairanga County
Council, addressed to the County Clerk at the County Office,
Rangitikei Street, Palmerston North.

and 252 of the Companies Act, 1908, that a general
meeting of the members of the above-named company will be

Monday, 18th November, 1935, at 2 p.m., for the purpose of
having an account laid before them showing the manner in
which the winding-up has been conducted and the property
of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation

matter of THE TOWAI HOTEL PROPRIETARY, LIMITED
(in Liquidation).
NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general
meeting of the above-named company, duly convened
and held on the 11th day of October, 1935, the following
special resolution was duly passed :—
“ That the company be wound up voluntarily, and that
FRANK LESLIE GUNN, Public Accountant, of Whangarei,
be and the same is hereby appointed liquidator for the purpose
of such winding up.”

BUCKLEY DRAINAGE BOARD.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by Part II of the Local Authorities Interest
Reduction and Loans Conversion Act, 1932–33, and the
Buckley Drainage Board Loans Conversion Order, 1935, the
Buckley Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows :—
“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund,
and other charges on the new securities authorized to be issued
by the Buckley Drainage Board under the above-mentioned
Act and Order in conversion of existing securities issued in
respect of the loans set out in the First Schedule to that
Order, and also the interest, sinking fund, and other charges
in respect of the unconverted securities issued in respect of
such loans, the said Buckley Drainage Board hereby makes
and levies a special rate of 1⅜d. in the pound upon the rateable
value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property
of the district. Such rate shall be made and levied on a
differential basis for each of the several legal subdivisions
of the district as follows :—
“ (a) On all rateable property in the Buckley Subdivision,
a special rate of 1⅜d. in the pound on lands classified ‘A,’ 1¼d. in the pound on lands classified ‘B,’ and ⅝d. in the pound on lands classified ‘C.’
“ (b) On all rateable property in the Piaka Subdivision, a
special rate of 1⅜d. in the pound on lands classified ‘A,’ 1¼d. in the pound on lands classified ‘B,’ and ⅝d. in the pound on lands classified ‘C.’
“ (c) On all rateable property in the Koputaroa Subdivision,
1¼d. in the pound on lands classified ‘A,’ 1d. in
the pound on lands classified ‘B,’ and ¾d. in the
pound on lands classified ‘C.’
“ Such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate
during the currency of such securities and be payable yearly
on the first day of June in each and every year until the last
maturity date of such securities, being the 1st day of November, 1953, or until all such securities are fully paid off.”
